These nursing schools have been around for years and offer some amazing experience to their students. They were founded early and have only grown better through time.
1. University of Manchester: This is such an old institution that you can find courses influenced by Florence Nightingale taught here. As she was an icon within nursing, so too is the school legendary not only in the United Kingdom but all throughout the world.
2. Bellevue Hospital School of Nursing: This was the first school of nursing in the United States, and it has some serious roots. Here too you can take courses that were influenced by Florence Nightingale and that makes it especially interesting to those in the field.
3. Johns Hopkins School of Nursing: The name is so well known within the medical field that it only makes sense that the nursing school would be of great interest. It also happens to be one of the oldest in the world and has an excellent reputation to match the experience.
4. University of Minnesota: This is not only an old school but a distinguished one for a variety of reasons. This was the first university based nursing program and that was a big deal back in the day. Though this is the norm now with nursing programs, it was not so back in the day.
5. Columbia University School of Nursing: This is older as nursing schools go but also has a very significant reason why it stands out. It was the first nursing school to offer master’s nursing programs, and so students flock to it due to its excellent reputation and high marks.
6. Yale School of Nursing: This was the first autonomous nursing school, that is the first to stand on its own. This standalone nursing institution really showed just how seriously people were starting to take the profession and how interesting it had become.
7. St. Thomas Hospital School: This was established in London by the one and only Florence Nightingale, and so it very well goes down as the oldest. The prestige that comes about as a result of its founder is second to none.
8. University of Michigan: It didn’t take off as a nursing school as we know it today, but it did have students graduate from the program years back. This has become an institution for not only nursing but all branches of medicine through the years.
9. University of Maryland: This is another older institution that is as well known for its nursing programs as other branches of medicine. It has an excellent reputation that has much to do with the experience as it does with the education provided.
10. St. Paul Hospital School of Nursing: Based in Manila this was established in the early 1900’s by an archbishop. There is a great feeling to this school for the legendary teaching that it provides to nursing students from everywhere.
Nursing schools all must maintain a certain curriculum, but these are the best of the best. They have developed an excellent reputation for the experience that they provide and the years they have been around.
