Its kind of disappointing how the local franchise of reality shows are murdered in our country. Everyday, I sit in front of the TV and wait for these shows to air, and all I can see is a waste of time, but I, as an avid reality show fan, would have to suck it all up just for the sake of entertainment.

Pinoy Dream Academy might have better singers, better mentors, production and host but the abusive play of drama takes the reality talent search into a very different level. A level which crosses the boundary of privacy and emotions of the people involved in the competition. ABS knows that people find it amusing how others react and so they used the PBB concept on PDA, which turned out to be pathetic since they are letting the people decide on who stays and who goes... The PDA primetime show which should have showcased more about themes, song choices and trainings are filled with issues, controversies and drama or crying moments as to suit the taste of the audience and not to tell the audience who should win or who does really well or who does not.

We can choose the winner --- the one with talent and the package without the show having focus on stories than performances. The way I see it, their performances do not determine their status in the competition --- which should have been the main requirement for a talent show like PDA.

Because if the performances mattered, Sheng, Poy and Lambert should still be there and not Bea and Miguel (who was set up as a couple) and Christian.

Pinoy Idol presented us a hope that the next winner to be world-class, classy and well-recognized. Mau Marcelo has performed beyond what she was expected to do. She has represented our country well and made us proud. But, she wasn't given proper recognition since Philippine Idol.

The only thing the first local franchise missed out is the lack of recognition. Since ABC 5 doesn't have a roster of talents nor they don't have any record company partnerships, the treatment and what's in store for the finalists, post-Idol hit it low and got the finalists hanging after the show.

But still it was better, GMA 7 has definitely lost control of the current season. How I wish they put PI back to ABC 5, at least, they can do live performance and results shows. How I wish the host and the judges are apt for their positions and how I wish that the contestants who got through to the Finals are deserving enough to be in the position they were in now. We saw a lot of posers and a lot of immitators. And it doesn't even fit the label Pinoy Idol since Pinoys are known to be excellent in singing and we have lots of world-class talents which we can really call Idols. The low-quality stage and the acoustics which seemed like Pinoy Pop Superstar transferred in SM Mall of Asia makes it much more worse.

The franchise which I once got excited to watch, turned into a pathetic and murdered show which I wouldn't want to waste much of my time (if it weren't for blogging or for shear entertainment).

What's best is GMA 7 wasn't able to hold us, the people, the voters, in our necks, to vote for those who deserve to stay. Instead, family members, relatives and some friends would rather vote for a crappy Chihuahua look-a-like, Bamboo impersonator and a matinee idol than excellent singers who have boring personalities.

Well, I can't blame the two GIANT stations since even if they show good or bad things in the TV, they still profit from advertisement placements. We watch shows with commercials twice the length as the real show.

Nothing's seems to be worth watching, nowadays. What would happen next?

I still have high hopes. Hopefully, Pinoy Fear Factor and Survivor Philippines deliver well.
