Serafin Cuevas, Former Supreme Court Justice, Dies at 85

Ex-supreme court associate justice, Serafin Cuevas, notable lawyer to Corona and Erap Estrada, passed away at the age of 85, Sunday night.



Theordore Te, high court's intel had announced the monumental supreme court justice officer's demise.

"Former SC Justice Serafin Cuevas passed away last night, February 9, 2014. Details to follow. Flag at SC quadrangle at half mast," said the SC PIO.

"Details of the wake will follow as soon as the Court is informed by the family," added the SC PIO.

Cuevas is the 106th Associate Justice of the Court, serving at the Marcos era from June 1984 to April 1986. He also became the lead counsel of Renato Corona, during his impeachment trial.

The famous lawyer will truly be missed as he has become one of the most populat faces in the legal community. In social media, his passing became the number 1 topic in the country.

Malacanang Palace had issued a statement as well:

"We extend our condolences to the family of the late Justice Serafin Cuevas who dedicated a good portion of his life and career to public service," Presidential Communications Operations Office head Herminio Coloma Jr. told reporters in a text message.
