Today, we had a lecture from Department of Psychology professor Ms. Aurora Mendoza. She has this study on work behavior and values of different generations and found out that there was a huge change from each generations.
Some tackled factors:
=Protestant Work Ethic
=Organizational Belief System
= Humanistic System
=Marxist View
=Leisure Ethic
Work ethics between these generations: postwar, Baby Boomers and Gen X were studied and changes such as career preference, being adventurous, and time values.
Now what's the difference between job and a career? Job is an occupation where you got paid for what you are doing. Career, perhaps involves interest on what you are doing, enjoying it and pursuing it because you like what you are doing, and it is eventually the one with a purpose.
She then discussed why our generation has been more looking onto "adventurous and exciting" stuffs.
Then, we went home. No, I just learned that we should study or like observe first the changes in values through generation, enabling us to understand and make a bridge on how should our society be after each generation or phase. It should be easy to understand our parents more after this lecture. :)
