When asked about the title of this post, I would immediately say, "me"! But would you believe that even if I do love sports, I don't even have a sport that I can say I excel in. I don't even play a sport regularly so how would I have the guts to say that I love sports? Well, it's not just about playing or being athletic, right? It is also about appreciation of different games and sports. The passion it entails to covering and getting yourself in the know about the latest news on basketball, volleyball and other sports, especially in soccer and rugby - that I consider myself to be a sports buff. Or rather, a lot of people would say I'm a sports geek.

I have an exam on Tuesday and I haven't reviewed for it yet. Earlier, no one's gonna stop me from going to that UAAP Cheerdance Competition. That was a fun show even if UP did not clinch the win this time.

I am too tired and all my friends are in Timezone right now, while I write this, multitasking to probably get lots of things done. I shall be done with this ME 164 readings by tomorrow or else I'm in for a big trouble. I need to get 85% in the next examination to be exempted from taking the remedials. Wish me luck.

Hassle Week

As you are able to see, I haven't been updating lately. The past two weeks are the kings of hell weeks.

In case you're wondering what motivated me not to post much and get addicted to blogging, its a 20% score in an exam in a Machine Design class and a 40% one in my Heat Transfer class.

Sounds reasonable enough, right?

Not only that I had loads of exams, I have loads of organizational work to do as the Publicity Director of my Mechanical Engineering organization.

I can only account rest to watching Anne Curtis and Zanjoe Marrudo's The Wedding which never fails to make me smile and updating myself with the current events in the country. Seems like Noynoy's really taking the frontrunner seat for presidency, huh?

I can't wait for this semester to end. HA! What's good is that my professors decided to cut our semester shorter. As of this date, three of the six subjects I am currently taking are already finished. I just only need to finish the requirements and take the final exams in these courses; I hope I'd be able to prepare myself for these examinations for I won't want to prolong my stay in the university.

There are only a few more semesters 'till I graduate; my aim right now is to make a name for myself and I can do that by starting right; graduating on time and practice what I have learned. I can not wait for those moments to come.

Cory Dies at 76

Its a sad morning for the Philippines and as the hopefuls to be iskolars ng bayan take their examination...

Corazon "Cory" Aquino, the first female Asian leader, the mother of democracy in the Philippines had just passed away 3:18 AM according to her son Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. She died at 76 three days after her family said she was already stable, after being confined for a month in Makati Medical Center.

The Philippines mourn as we bid goodbye to the symbolism and icon of democracy leading the popular 1986 EDSA Revolution ousting the dictator president, Ferdinand Marcos.

She will definitely have a space in our hearts.

Good night, Cory, not goodbye. Sleep well in heaven. May you rest in peace. :(

Gotta Be Inspired

There are a lot of times in our lives that we feel hopeless and we feel uncertain of what we're heading to. Most of the time, it is due to a problem we can not conquer.

Sometimes, we wonder why problems cross our ways. It seems like they're living creatures just randomly picking people to haunt. Whether what kind of problem it is, I always look up to God and I know that he'll guide me to the right path. I always believe that there is a reason for anything.

My highschool bestfriend once told me to listen to inspiring songs and worship songs. She was my companion since the start. I am one tough lad to be able to conquer my problems about being very unsociable and being the public enemy of our high school.

When my highschool bestfriend engaged me to listen to these types of songs, I felt inspired and they made me feel like I should not give up. So whenever a problem comes across, I look for inspiring songs on the Internet and I found this interesting song from Fire Fall Down, entitled "Commissioned."

The lyrics of the song struck me as listening to it makes you really push further and go achieve what you need to achieve. It gives me a little bit of hope especially now that I am in a very crucial stage of my life. I am currently a senior student in college and I really find it difficult to survive my program. With time constraint, personal problems, and financial problems, too, I only look up to myself and God and my family and I push myself one notch higher everytime. I want to graduate on time so badly; I want my mom and dad be proud of me and be proud of themselves!

I have lots and lots of dreams but I feel like all's a long shot; but what makes me further is that I make a way to get out of this and that's what that song reminds me, I have to push through, whatever it takes to succeed.

Fire Fall Down might mislead you as they play hardcore rock music but if you look deeper in the lyrics of their songs, truly magical! They're capability to attract the youth especially those, who are in crisis, like me is a wonder.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, July 22 marks a historic astral phenomena!

The new moon is set to cover the sun from each from dawn to sunset producing a total solar eclipse. It is believed to be the longest for the whole century, however, only a small part of the earth can view this once-in-a-lifetime event, which will be readily visible from Eastern China, India and different cities including Surat, Varanasi, Chengdu, Chongqing, Patna, Thimphu, Whuan, Hangzhou and Shanghai.

While most, will be experiencing moon's penumbra, which produces a partial solar eclipse, which will be visible to South East Asia.

On the other hand, a lunar eclipse, third of fourth for this year, is set to be seen on August 6.

Isa na siguro iyon sa mga napakalagim na karanasan sa aking buhay.

Pumunta kasi kami ng aking kuya sa isang handaan isang araw bago ang aking kaarawan sa isang eskinitang nasa mabundok na parte ng Olongapo. Sa aking pagkakatanda, iyon ang una kong handaan na in-attendan. Masaya naman kahit papaano. Sumali pa nga kami ni kuya dahil sa isang palaro at nanalo pa kami ng pekeng badminton rackets. Madilim na ng makaalis kami; sinundo na din kami ng ate ko dahil hinahanap na kami sa bahay.

Nang biglang... paghakbang ko, ay wala akong nahakbangan. Mula sa matarik na eskinita ay, gumulong ako hanggang sa paanan ng bundok. Nagulat na lang ang aking mga kapatid na ako ay nagsisisigaw na sa takot at sa sakit na pagkabaldog ng aking ulo at katawan sa matarik at makipot na daanan. Palibhasa'y madulas kaya't nagmistulang balot ako ng dugo at lumot nang nakita ako ng aking mga kapatid. Iyak ako ng iyak.

Nagising ako. Akmang kinakantahan niya ako ng paborito kong kanta noon. "You're My Everything" Paggising ko naman, ay ngiti lang ang sumalubong sa akin; ngiti din ang unang mamumutawi sa aking labi. Nagdala siya ng paborito kong keyk mula sa Goldilocks. Yung mocha na roll. Yun lang kasi ang requirement ko nung bata ko kapag berdey ko at kailangan siya ang may dala. Isang Goldilocks mocha roll, masaya na ako. Yun na siguro ang dahilan kung bakit You're the 1, Goldilocks... ito lang kasi ang hinihingi ko parati nung aking kabataan. Noon iyon.

Akala ko masaya na ang araw na iyon. Ngunit, hindi ko alam na noon ko na lang pala huling masisilayan si Tito Aniano. Hindi ko lubos maisip hanggang ngayon bakit ako pinili ng Diyos na manatili sa mundo at kailangan niyang kunin ang buhay ni Tito.

Habang minamaneho niya ang kanyang sasakyan pauwi ng Pampanga, kung saan siya naninirahan nang panahong iyon, ay nabanga ang kanyang kotse at halos tumilapon sa bangin. Nagulat na lang ako ilang oras pagkatapos niyang bumisita ay tinawagan agad ang Mama ko ukol sa balitang iyon.

Malungkot man ang araw na iyon, pinasaya ako ng tito ko sa huling mga oras ng kanyang buhay. Hindi ko mapigilang umiyak; kahit mura ang aking isipan, hindi maiaalis kung gaano ko kamahal at kaimportante ang Tito Aniano ko para sa akin. Napasakit na kaarawan.

Siguro, sa bawat kaarawang lumilipas ko nawala na ang aking tito - ang Goldilocks mocha roll ang nagsisilbing ala-ala niya na talagang tumatak sa akin. Hanggang sa ngayon, iyon pa din ang hindi pwedeng mawala sa aking mga kaarawang lumilipas.

Hindi na siguro babalik si Tito Aniano pero sa aking paningin, ipinalit niya ang kanyang buhay para sa ikalawang buhay ko. Hindi na rin siguro mawawala ang aking pagkahilig sa Goldilocks mocha roll. Para sa akin, you're the one, Goldilocks, hindi lang basta dahil sa keyk na inihahanda sa berdey ko pero dahil isa na rin itong malaking parte ng buhay ko -nagpapaalala sa akin ng taong naging isang malaking bahagi at inspirasyon ko kung bakit ako nag-aaral ng mabuti sa ngayon at sinisikap ko maging mabuting tao para sa aking pamilya at mga nagmamahal sa akin.

One of the Philippines' leading classified ads company, Sulit.com.ph, is confirmed to be sold to a foreign company for an undisclosed sum. It was said that negotiations started early this year.

According to RJ David of Sulit (which happens to be my organization, PSME-UPSU alumni):

Late last night, a topic was posted by one of our dear Sulitizens asking if Sulit.com.ph was indeed Sold. Eventually, the news came from a prominent Filipino blogger who got his confirmation from a Twitter account of a Filipino serial tech entrepreneur.

So what is the real deal behind this news?

It is no secret that Sulit.com.ph has a tremendous growth for the past 2 years and most of you know that Arianne (bigbucks) and I (being the founders) are doing our best to give a top notch service that we can offer our members and visitors. But eventually, there will be a limit on what we can physically provide and we believe that our users deserve more.

Therefore, our strong growth has led us to look for outside advice that will help us maximize our performance in critical business areas. We are also considering the strategic options that would allow us (the founders) to take the business to the next level and to maximize the benefits that our users, especially our members, receive. As entrepreneurs, we believe that we have to identify the areas that we are good at and we have to look for people and entities that have the skills and resources to complement ours.

In line with these developments, we will make further announcements if and when we believe it is appropriate to do so. But one thing for sure, we will still be the captains that will lead Sulit.com.ph, together with our users, to new heights for the foreseeable future. Molave Ko 'To

A month ago, I was too worried. The third list of qualified applicants for the dormitories in UP Diliman has just been released and my name's not yet there.

Three months before that, I was eying to change dormitories. That time, I felt dissatisfied with the way things were at Molave. A lot of newcomers went in and they went in with a bang. Marami sa kanila, pa-star. I do not want to go to Yakal too because of that. Sabi kasi ng friends ko, sa Yakal, you have to stand out; you are trained na maging pa-star. I don't want my life to be meddled with and besides, a lot of Molavers (as we call ourselves) has gotten close to me, so even when I'm quite unsure, I still wrote Molave as my first choice.

I never held office for a dormitory council. I can but I choose not to.

Last year, I was a member of an autonomous group in Molave, its newsletter, Kanlaon. Just to be able to establish a student publication for the dormitory, I agreed to be the Associate Editor. I admit that besides my Kalay barkada, it was only in Kanlaon meetings where I find myself really happy. It was only where I am able to express what I have in mind and be proud of what I wrote. It is only where I can share laughters, and chitchats for so many hours. Even at the wee hours of the evening, when other dormers sleep-slash-are trying to sleep. There are these press days when we burn the midnight oil to ink our paper with our thoughts and crappiness.

I must admit, I was kind of disheartened when an issue came up last year about the staff, particularly me. That time, I was thinking, that was the sign I am waiting for. The next few weeks I told myself I'll just suck up a few more weeks and I won't see the faces of these whatever people. I had forgiven them, as well as the one who started the issue. But then again, I still stand by the staff's firm statement that there was nothing wrong with what was written about in one section of our publication. I kind of confirmed to myself how I will be at another dormitory next year - happy, and at peace.

But then, Lady Luck probably smirked at me three weeks ago. A day after the third batch was released, I got accepted wherelse, but in the Molave Residence Hall. What I thought was, I have lived in this dormitory for about six semesters already and there can't be anything I can't stand but the people in it. Fortunately for me, the people involved in last year's issue weren't accepted in Molave. Now, I can start anew.

Last week, Kanlaon had a meeting. We are supposed to be electing the new officers, but we end up appointing since we lack members. Around half of our staff were displaced to other dormitories. The deliberation came and I was appointed as the Editor-in-Chief for this year. Even if I told them that my academic and organizational load won't allow me, they insisted,until I cannot unaccept the position. I just think of positive thoughts.

What I was thinking is that I would be an instrument into making Kanlaon a better group and for us to be able to meet our mission and vision. I didn't waste time and in an hour, our staff appointees are complete. We then discussed our strategies for recruiting new members of the staff. I must say, I am proud to be a part of the pioneering batch of the publication. It sure is overwhelming to see its growth after a year. It is definitely orgasmic if it still stands fiver or ten more years after.

Not only that, I was also one of those who signed up for the new and improved Newbies Orientation Program Committee (NOPC). And this past week, I can see how the new residents respond in what we have been formulating since the start of the semester. It was truly overwhelming to see them enthusiastic and doing what the purpose of the activity such as sigsheet signing is. Of course, in meeting the newbies, I don't want to be just someone who just signed them and would not care after. I always make sure that I would make a mark, that I would at least be able to get basic information to them and in return, I can share them who I am and give them other interesting facts they might want to know. Two days ago, a flock of newbies barricaded me to have their sigsheets signed; and sure as hell, some of them will be able to read this. Some would now be saying their hellos to me when they see me anywhere in the campus. Some would eventually be lunch buddies and some might be under my rule in Kanlaon.

It was kind of funny how I was able to recover. It was kind of funny how my mind changed in just little time. That has got to have a reason.

Probably, I love Molave more than what I think I do. Probably, deep inside, I was really gearing myself up to be an instrument in making my stay and my co-dormers' stay in Molave worthwhile.

Probably, of the newbies whose sigsheets a night ago - some of them will feel the same way as I do.

Probably, they will be able to learn and realize how they love Molave - I hope its as much as I do.

It is now confirmed that I am living in the same dormitory - satisfied, happy and at peace.

The Tale of a New Website

I have always wanted for our highschool to have an official website. I have hosting and I can coordinate with the student council so that the website would be put up. I have high dreams for it to be a social network, a portal for all RSHS students, once-students, and alumni. There, we can reminisce how highschool life was. We can compare the past and the future. We can relive how the school has been a haven for excellence and self-development.

Megan Young

This issue of Mega Magazine has three of the finest girls on its cover - Carmina Villaroel, Miss Tweety de Leon and Megan Young.

The first two are well-established as icons of beauty and fashion. Added to the list was Megan Young. I couldn't be any more proud with the accomplishments my former highschool mate and friend has already achieved.

Back then, this girl lacked self-esteem. She just tried out for Starstruck and boom, instant fame. I remember the time when she told me she got through. She was late at school that time. I was just passing by the hallway when she ran through me and shouted , "Rommel, nakapasok ako sa Starstruck!" with those eyes glaring with happiness and passion. I know that she had just found her niche.

Megan unluckily got booted before the Finale. Oh well. Though she had few projects while she was on GMA, when she transferred to ABS-CBN - she has gotten lots of opportunities. After her short stint in Kokey, Pinoy Big Brother and All About Your Love, Megan got more fame when she acted as Marcella in Betty La Fea.

I never expected for her to improve so much - in acting, she was the recent star in Maala-ala Mo Kaya together with Joross Gamboa; in singing and dancing, too.

Megan also is very fashionable. She's really qualified to model; I was actually convincing her before to join Binibining Pilipinas in the future since I know that she's got beauty and she's also witty.

What people do not know much about her is probably her passion for writing. She and I used to work for our highschool publication. She writes features while I do sports and copyreading. She has this really controversial article way back, which was really witty and funny, well in my point of view. She's a very funny person; even if she buckles up with her Tagalog, she still tries and will give her full blast for you to understand her. If people laugh, she will just carry a bright smile and ask what word she should have said.

Now that she's famous, it was really nice that she was able to still keep in touch with her past friends. At our last high school reunion, she was there together with lots of food she sponsored for the batch.

Our frequent query to her is if John Lloyd kisses real good. That's referring to her Marcella stint in Betty La Fea.

She's still very friendly and sociable. She doesn't throw away fans; she gives time for them and cares for them, well, as long as they're harmless.

Now that everything's going her way, I hope that Megan would be able to achieve more. She's Olongapo's pride and of course, our batch's pride. I know that she can make it really big. Time will come for her to shine and be an icon.

And I am proud to be one of her friends.

The King of Pop, the A(H1N1) Scare and Death

Three weeks ago, when the outbreak of A(H1N1) in UP Diliman has just ignited, I belong to the bandwagon of the paranoids - thinking I'll die in days because I had all the symptoms of the swine flu well except for diarrhea. I can't lift my body up from my bed. Everything's warm and moisty. A feeling you really wouldn't wanna be in.

I was too scared to die. Too scared that I even contacted my brother to fetch me and bring me to the infirmary. That thing ended to a fight; he left me after he had eaten his lunch. I continued to go to the hospital all by myself.

Fortunately, it's just the normal flu.

Just last Friday, Michael Jackson fans around the globe mourned as the news of his death was released in headlines in news programs and blogs around the world. A shocking death of probably the most powerful and influential artist in the recent past.

I grew up listening to my brother's casette tapes, him mimicking the King of Pop's moves. I always fancy seeing him making moonwalks and electrifying dances, he's practing to perform to highschool programs. Back then, at an early age of six or seven, I find Michael Jackson as an icon. He has probably made a significant impact in the music industry and has been an inspiration to a lot of artists we are seeing right now in the country and worldwide. I hope that the Michael Jackson autopsy would be released sooner. Wala lang, usisero lang.

Well, its not new to me or you that the AH1N1 influenza is currently pestering the world and just recently, a Filipina had died of it. Around five hundred has the disease already with almost a hundred schools suspending their classes. As of the moment, the DOH was not able to control the transmission of disease since the locations and connections of the different cases were far from each other. I hope there won't be any more deaths due to this epidemic.

Oh well, the school days are here and I am still on chillax mode. Organizational work, plus work eats my time a lot recently. I enjoy these things. I'm dying of boredom with tons of engineering readings and problems to be solved. I'm dying of pain and lack of appreciation from the ones who I care about. It feels cold to wait desperately for someone whom I want to call me to be by her side. Gah. This may be even more hellish than dying per se.

Now, I don't think I'm scared to die anymore. My back aches a lot lately. I wonder why I'm too tired this often. I wonder how much more pain will I get, physically, mentally, emotionally.

June 22 : BEST Seminar and the Department Orientation

I woke up really early. It was time to prepare for the department orientation. A night ago, I was busy texting my subordinates to join me in preparing the tarpaulins, posters and survival kits to be handed out in the afternoon in time for the Department Orientation.

As we were busy preparing for the event, Engineering freshies were already off to the Bulwagang Tandang Sora, College of Social Works and Community Development for their BEST Seminar - which is kind of a study habits and learning techniques seminar. Afterwhich, some of my orgmates fetch them and accompanied them to the Engineering Student Council's Grand Pakain.

Simultaneously, another group of orgmates are busy preparing for a talent show to be held tomorrow. Again, for the freshies.

It was pass 1 PM when we started putting up registration booths, fixing laptops for technicals and arranging chairs to fit in a medium-sized classroom. I and my committee mates were also busy tacking tarpaulins and publicity materials in the department. Our bibo block G-26 has already arrived. Reminds me of the freshie air I was able to inhale when I were a freshie. That's all different now.

Right after, we treated them at Lutong Bahay. Fruitshakes for free! The day ended with a pre-pageant for the Freshie Fashion Show. Unfortunately, our bets weren't able to snatch a spot in the Top 10.

June 23: Org Fuzion

Our organization was lucky enough to be at the top twelve in the proposals part. So we need to be able to come up with an entertaining show. However, we were not prepared. As in. Our dancers backed out the last minute. Only the singers were able to practice well.

But do or die. We'll try. And so the performance went on, I must say I'm still proud that my organization delivered quite well than expected. We thought it would be a snoozefest and it would be a really really lame show - but I still found myself screaming their names. I am so proud of them that they have been able to represent with so little time in their hands. With that, great job. Especially to the singing crew, whom I had goosebumps while they were on the stage. Violin plays and an icy voice singing The Corrs' At Your Side.

All other organizations did a splendid job.

June 24: Yikee. Engineering Carnivale

It was my day, I have to say. No further explanations. As long as you are happy with who you are with, you won't really mind if you're doing nothing or how far the place you are going to. Enough said.

Consequently, it is the Engineering Carnivale. I didn't go out at the carnival since my organization doesn't have a booth there and I'm still bitter with the fact that another organization got away with out Balloon Bursting Carnivale idea from last year.

What a fun morning! My classes are all sabaw. My W-F's are just morning classes.

June 25: Pix Static

Its quite a busy day and I would have wanted to rest for hours but after my jampacked classes in the afternoon. I was messaged that we will be having a meeting around 7:30 in the evening that day. I waited three hours for a meeting that I won't attend to. Simply because I am broke and they told me they'll gonna have the meeting at KFC. Rar. My temper got the best of me and I walked out to sleep. That's the good part of it.

Anyway, some orgmates of mine accompanied the freshies to different spots in the university and its neighborhood. It is for a phototour contest.

Somehow, this day ended kind of lonely for me. I don't think I stand a chance, again.

June 26: GA, Bonding and the Shockwave

Another boring day. My classes finished half an hour before noon. Then, we went to the canteen to grab a lunch then zoomed off upstairs for a quick General Assembly. All's well. I was surprised to know that I have pending Publicity stuffs to keep myself busy by this weekend.

For the Mechanical Engineering students out there from UP Diliman :-) We are opening our application for the first semester. Our app's orientation would be on July 10 and 17. Time is after class, 4 pm in the afternoon, at the Quiet Zone.

After hours of waiting, I decided to join my batchmates in the sports clinic session in Mapayapa, UP Village. Our tricycle driver was so stupid, he didn't know where Mapayapa was. We ended up walking our way to the venue. Then, I slept. They played. Whatta productive three hours.

When we went back to the dorm at around 7 pm. I ate my dinner, then had some fun with the dormitory people. Newbies are trying to make us sign their sigsheet. :) Anyway, I went to the nearest internet cafe' since I wasn't able to check my mail and my online accounts for the past four days. When the cafe' was about to close, I had nowhere to go and so I went to the Engineering Freshman concert. It was lots of fun, though the crowd grew thinner each second.

The concert ended past 1am and I accompanied some freshie to Philcoa together with some of my co-ExeCom members. I decided to just surf the net.

June 27: :-)

I went back to the dorm by 6 am, in time for breakfast. Right after, I couldn't resist the sleepy feeling I have been feeling for the past two hours.

I was awaken by a weird sound in the backyard, another gobble from a turkey. I then checked my phone to see it was already 4PM. I then took a bath and planned to eat. A friend texted and said he hasn't eaten yet so we met and ate Tapsilog at Rodic's. My initial plan was to eat spaghetti with a melon fruitshake in Lutong Bahay but they were not open that day. I always forget that Saturday is their rest day.

It was a fun afternoon for me. Right after, I submitted articles to my boss. And she gave me two more, which is worth a lot than the usual.

Next thing I know, its Sunday and I had to go to church. Eat, sleep, read notes then submit two more articles.

I had just submitted the revised version of my articles earlier. I have accepted more assignments for this week. I pray that I'd be able to finish all, if not 75% of my tasks for this week. I have three pending articles to be submitted tomorrow. I hope I can submit them on time.

Anyway, this week has been a blast. Not only had I accomplished a lot of things; not only because there's a lot of organization matters that we've successfully pulled through; mainly, because I have connected with people I feel would be there for all times, the best this week.

AKA Mobile Search Engine Feature

I hear a lot from online friends about AKA. They say that AKA is not just your ordinary mobile search engine and that you can search and find everything and anything anytime via SMS or the internet. Individuals and marketeers can publicize new information about their businesses, their products and other since any update can be posted through your mobile phones.

To prove to myself if the service at AKA is nice, I registered as inghinyero. They sent me a password through text so that I can access my dashboard. I see that I can connect with Facebook and get extra credits for that. It also feature interesting applications that enables users to enjoy their service as pasttime. They have a feature called mini-blog wherein you can upload your thoughts in the internet through your phones. It definitely breaks bounds between the internet and the mobile world.

But what mainly entices me is its function as a search engine since it is AKA's main feature. It is the only feature that anyone can access, even those unregistered.

Basically, you can search either from the web or through SMS. You can do so in the internet by going to the AKA website, then under the Test Drive tab, you can put the keywords there and voila, you've got search results.

What I did was I searched through Quick Find as seen in the screenshot. I searched Ms. Janette Toral's name since I was curious about her Influential and Emerging Blogs of 2009 Writing Project.

You can also search via SMS by texting AKA(space)FIND(space)KEYWORD/s and sending it to 0922.999.7255 where all of the commands are sent. However, I think the more relevant the keywords are, the results of the search will be better.

For example, what I did was I sent this code to the number 09229997255:

After which I received search results for the keyword I was searching for:

AKA does not only function as an SMS search engine. It has innovated features so as to make messaging easier and secured.

One good thing too is the AKA mobile directory where I was able to create directory entries in AKA so that I can also be found by other people using AKA FIND. The instructions were simple and registration is fast and easy. But you can also register through text using the keywords AKA REG. These words ultimately becomes keywords that you can be traced to. This is a great way to populate your mini-site. You can populate the mini-site through text using keywords AKA SITE.

This AKA feature is very advantageous not only to the person searching but also the person who wants to be found. This is because it is very user-friendly. The owner of any directory entry can update everytime which makes the AKA directory fresh and informative.

The search engine feature will be very helpful especially if the network widens. I hope the handlers of this project make big efforts to make the network bigger for searching be easier and more accurate.

Emerging and Influential Bloggers

I am joining Ms. Janette Toral's Top Ten Emerging and Influential Blogs for 2009. And here's my list.

My ten emerging and influential blogs of 2009 are based on three main things - first, is that it should have created a significant following attaining widespan influence; second, the wow factor, the potential of the blog to truly be one of the top blogs in the Philippines, and possibly the world and lastly, my favorites, the blogs which I really enjoy visiting a lot.

So, let us start with those blogs which I think are very influential.

Video Chops , for me, is one of the most influential blogs since it caters to people interested in video blogging. It also unites vloggers and compiles the hottest vlogs in the bloggosphere. Not only that, the site's video contents aren't garbage; the site also has cool features!

Barrio Siete has probably the most unique approach in making comments and expressing observations regarding society issues. With heavy topics at hand, a lot of their entries make it easier to comprehend especially to us noobs, due to the light attack of the writers. Definitely, a topnotch site. And, the layout is really neaaat!

Patay Gutom. This barkada of self-proclaimed patay gutoms are very much a breathe of fresh air on the internet. I never knew reading a food blog could be this cool. From their very kwela pictures and very cool features, Patay Gutom has created a following and for sure has created a mark in the food blogging world.

RP 2010. The national elections is coming and this blog can definitely be a very influential tool to a lot of Filipino netizens around the globe. The ultimate election watchblog, that is RP2010.

Here are the blogs which I think has the potential to make it big someday, thus are, the ones which for me, qualify as the emerging blogs of 2009.

Tinuring kong purgatoryo ang hayskul. Isang phase. Isang lugar kung saan lahat ng kaalaman at nalalaman ay akin munang kinikilatis at iniipon. Isa-isa, akin itong binubulay-bulay dahil alam kong pagkaraan ng apat na taon ay hindi na lang ako namumuhay para sa aking sarili lamang. Isa na akong ganap na indibidwal - na dapat ay may tamang pag-iisip para na din sa mundong aking ginagalawan.

Siya ang pinaka-kinaaayawang guro sa paaralan. Ako naman ang pinaka-kinaaayawang estudyante roon.

Istrikta siya. Mushy sabi ng iba. Sino nga naman ba ang taong hanggang sa ngayon ay saulo ang Florante at Laura? Matinding pilosopiya sa panitikan at pag-ibig ang kanyang parating bigkas. Hindi naniniwala ang lahat sa kanyang malawak na kaalaman sa ugnayang panitikan at pag-ibig. Sino nga naman ba ang taong maniniwala sa isang taong inialay ang buong buhay sa pagtuturo, hindi na nakapag-asawa sa pagmamahal sa panitikan at sa kanyang trabaho?

Sinolusyonan niya ang aking problema. Binigyan niya ako ng kalayaan kahit sa pagsusulat ng mga artikulong siya lang ang alam kong nakakaunawa.

Sa bawat break, palagi akong pumupunta sa kanya, ipinapakita ang mga artikulong aking nagagawa sa mga oras na wala akong mapaglibangan. Isang saya sa kanya ang aking pagkukusa at ang puso sa bawat marka ng ink na inukit ng aking isipan sa papel. Hindi ko lubos maisip na si Ma'am ay may malambot din palang puso. Hindi ko din lubos maisip na mayroon siyang siyang makikita sa aking mga naisulat.

Siguro, naturuan namin ang isa't isa. Tinulungan ko si Ma'am na maging mas maayos ang pakikitungo sa mga estudyante. Naging ina siya naming lahat. Ngayon, hindi lamang ako ang nakakakita ng kanyang likas na kagalingan at kalooban. Walang estudyante ang di nakakakilala sa kanya.

Hindi nawala ang aking kinang sa mga agham at matematika. Ngunit, hindi nawala ang oras ko para sa pagsusulat. Sa aking palagay, ito ang tanging bagay na hindi ko dapat mapakawalan. Regalo sa akin ng hayskul - isang bagay na aking napag-aralan. Aplikasyon na din ng obserbasyon at aking mga nakikita sa bawat araw ng aking buhay.

Ngayon, lahat ng mga kaalamang aking nakuha mula sa aking pagkabata at hanggang sa pagbuo ko ng mga ideolohiya at konsepto sa buhay, aking isinusulat. Marami pang mararating aking mga kamay at ang hawak nitong pluma. Malawak pa rin ang lugar para sa ikauunlad ng aking pagsusulat.

Ngayon, malaya kong nahaharap ang mga tao. Walang takot at kayang lumaban. Nahugot ko ang tiwala sa aking sarili mula sa pagsusulat. Tinuruan niya akong bumalikwas sa dati kong mga pinaniniwalaan. Tinuruan niya akong manindigan batay sa aking obserbasyon at hurisdiksyon.

Salamat sa aking gurong tawagin na lang nating Ma'am Jo. Naging kasangkapan ka sa pagpapabuti ng buhay ng maraming tao katulad ko.

MAY 22: Officially, Homeless Next Semester

Friday, two big clouds of doom came upon me. One is that I have this Stat 101 examination of which I was not abel to prepare for. *'coz I'm lazy* The second one is that the Office of Student Housing released the results for male applicants for dormitory admissions. And unfortunately, I wm not on the list. Screw that. Now, I have to house myself in a new place, whcih means new lifestyle too. And dang, I'm not the type of person who can adjust pretty well that sudden. Good luck for my first semester.

MAY 23: Officially, The Summer Classes Ended!

Later the night of May 22, me and my colleagues in PSME-UPSU had an emergency meeting which took all night. We stayed at an alumni's house 'till the time that its safe for us and our girl companions to go home.

Right after, I slept for a couple more hours, packed my belongings, leave them at my brother's house and then ride a taxi to Victory Liner Cubao station.

It was a grueling hour to wait for the bus and another four to be back home! I slept right after I slid my bag out of my shoulders. Welcome Olongapo!

MAY 24: Officially, I'm Home!

I woke up 10 AM. Basically, it was the time that it sunk in my mind that I'm finally home. Comfortable bed. Me and my family - lunch, together. Fun time with my three year old nephew. And as I step out of the door. There's the dog barking at me, an unfamiliar face. There's these familiar faces, old friends who had lots of stories to tell. There are these faces who seem to smile at me, faces I have forgotten through time. And faces who pretend to smile at me.

But then, this is Olongapo. And no one beats that fresh scent of home.

MAY 25: Officially, A Bum!

Bum mode! Haha. All I do is sleep, eat, watch TV, internet.
I do chores once in a while. I cook.

May 27: Officially,Registered

I really am very excited for the 2010 elections. Its my first time to vote and I registered here in the Olongapo City COMELEC, with the precinct number 831B, application number 21818 :) Fun, but I feel old and mature. Something that tells me to act my age now and be responsible for my actions.

May 28: Officially Bothered

Watched the senate hearing on the sex scandal thing and all I can say is that its even worse than Pinoy Big Brother. Its kinda funny to see these people looking so idiotic in front of an alleged sex maniac professional-looking man. Even his responses are gazillion times better than the senators' inputs. Gotta love it that Jamby's there, at least she made sense at certain times. I believe Hayden rose himself up from the ridicule he's getting.

May 29: Officially Passed ES 12

One of my goals this summer is to pass ES 12. And I did! I was also able to finish an elective, Stat 101 with flying colors! Cheers to a productive Summer! :)

I can now proudly say that I am still on time.

CRS is effin' irritating this past few days but I'm currently enlisting the following subjects: ES 15, ME 164, MetE143, ME 131, ME 153, ME 142, ME 165. Bloody as hell, I have to survive this semester five dot oh free.

That's six days already. It just came so fast.

I still don't know where to stay while I'm in UP. But I'll be going there this Monday already, in time for enrollment. Wish me luck! :) 'Cause in a week's time, I'm going to be officially a student again, and no more time for being a bum.

Hayden Kho and Katrina Halili and their Real Scandal

Lately, the Philippine showbiz has been facing yet again another controversy. One that is accounted to Filipino celebrity doctor Hayden Kho and his sex videos with Brazilian Model Mariana del Rio, Modess model turned starlet Maricar Ramos and the most famous one, FHM Sexiest Filipina of 2007 and 2008, Katrina Halili.

Later on, a lot of prominent people dipped themselves to the issue. There is, Sen. Bong Revilla who lambasted Kho in his privilege speech. Pretty ironic, huh? There is this Marielle Santos who gleefully admitted that she was the one on the sex video. Paranoia strikes with Rufa Mae Quinto and Vicky Belo who both admitted that they had sex videos with Hayden Kho.

But then again, Katrina Halili was deeply hurt with all that's happening right now and the people are too much biased on her side that she was the sole victim on this case.

I understand the fact that Katrina is a woman and rights of being a woman shall be respected. But then again, she let herself be used by Hayden so I really don't think its proper for her to say, "Nakita niyo naman po ang pambababoy sa akin ni Hayden sa video". Though I condemn the sin, which is videoing it and of course, Hayden's infidelity. It isn't right to turn all the blame to Hayden. Katrina had her share of the mistake too, and she's gaining sympathy simply because she's the more popular one and illogical thinking.

I sympathize Katrina. She's a star and she's getting quite big roles now than before. This is not really a perfect time for the videos to come out. But then, what makes me wonder is why is she doing this thing only now. At the middle of the Vicki Belo-Hayden Kho break-up controversy, it has already been said that there are videos to support Hayden's infidelity and one of them is Katrina's. But then, why did Katrina remained silent before? What makes it fishy is that all other girls who had their sex videos exposed didn't really mind it at all. Katrina, since she was the only one who has a career greatly affected, was the only one who stepped up.

Because of this, I'm giving Katrina and Hayden the benefit of the doubt. We really don't have a single feel of what they're feeling and we don't really know what happened.

As per Hayden, I really don't think he would want to spread those videos. I get it that they are for personal consumption. Also, as a celebrity , he has this little reputation to protect. He is known as Vicki Belo's boyfriend. It would be too risky for him and the Belo Medical Group if he would spread this thing just for the heck of it.

I believe that Hayden and Katrina are both victims in this matter.

Katrina, for having been the sexual fantasy of all the males out there downgraded to a "drugged promiscuous woman", which is definitely traumatic and degrading to her and to her family. Her mistake is that she let herself be used by Hayden who has a girlfriend that time. And then, they got videoed.

Hayden, for being a subject of criticism from different people who didn't even know what truly happened. If he's sick, then, it doesn't help what kind of criticisms he's getting right now. He's even kind of noble enough to strip off his license as a doctor because of the scenario.

Let's give them the benefit of the doubt.

I believe that the one to be blamed mostly here is/are the ones who was/were responsible for spreading the videos. That/Those persons shall rot in hell for he or she has ruined many lives. The real scandal here is the motive of spreading the video. Though in the first place, there won't be any scandal if Hayden didn't keep a collection of it. The question still remains: what's the motive in spreading it? To gain ego? To ruin lives? When we get the answer to this question, we'll definitely know what really happened.

What we can do is to avoid these videos already and don't make fun of it. And I call the bloggers out there, to stop spreading the videos and the links. You can make a lot more money with other things rather than spreading the video links and download links.

I hope that this issue bears good fruit, that is for the Philippines to have laws written against the spreading of these scandals, with fair provisions.

But then I hope our politicians would not take advantage of this issue just to make themselves look useful and pleasant in preparation for the elections next year.

American Idol Final Roundup

I started this season favoring Leneshe Young, Joanna Paciti, Felicia Barton, Kristen McNamara and Ricky Braddy. I didn't know a lot more are better and far greater than them.

Top 36 came and I amened to Matt Giraud, Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta and Anoop Desai. It was just a few more rounds 'till I liked Kris Allen and Megan Joy Corkrey.

At the Top 13, my initial bet were Kris Allen and Matt Giraud, with Anoop Desai and Allison as back-ups.

At the Michael Jackson week, I correctly predicted Jasmine Murray and Jorge Nunez to be at the bottom of the game. Also correctly guessing Megan Joy to be at the bottom three with them.

Country Music week proved to be a battle of talents as Matt Giraud slammed all other frontrunners to win the game that week. I was again right to guess Alexis Grace to go home that week. I was also right with Allison Iraheta and Michael Sarver to pull off a bottom three.

A week after the oh-so-great performance, and another amazing performance from Matt, he was off to the bottom three along with Michael Sarver and Scott Macintyre, which I had correctly guessed right, again. It was Motown week and Sarver went home.

Top 9 came with Matt giving one of the not-so-good performances. Fortunately, Megan Joy's time's ending. And I correctly predicted that too.

Top 8 came and it was an obvious Scott Macintyre boot.

Another accurate prediction was set by me as Matt Giraud got saved the following week.

The following week, Matt got saved by a strand, stayed alive and Lil Rounds and Anoop Desai were booted off the competition.

The Top 5 week was awesome but Matt Giraud was eliminated and I lost interest.

Top 4, I believe Allison Iraheta was robbed instead of a Gokey exit. I knew Allison will go home that night.

Last week, Gokey went home just as what I wanted to be. I prayed Kris to stay as he's the only bet I have. I said once that I think he'll win, I think its on facebook(a few rounds ago).

Last night, I wanted Kris to win and had this post.

And then, this week Kris Allen won American Idol.

What a season! :]

Kris Allen is the American Idol 8 Winner and Why Adam Lost?

This season's a rollercoaster ride for our Top 13 and both for Adam Lambert and Kris Allen. But a whirlwind ended up the Finale as Kris Allen, the underdog and darkhorse of the competition, won the coveted title of American Idol 2009.

Adam Lambert became this season's David Archuleta, with probably the biggest upset in the American Idol history.

Kris Allen performed No Boundaries and the Finale was jampacked with stars and rock bands.

Kris and Adam also won Ford Hybrid each.

Top 13 performed with some of the known artists like Cyndi Lauper, Lionel Ritchie and Kiss.

So Why Adam Lost?

Simply because Kris has the worldwide appeal, the more flexible music taste, the fresh vibe, the charms and the total package to win.

Kris also gained momentum these past two weeks. He surpassed Adam in polls and ITunes hits. He had the best song of the season, with Heartless and Ain't No Sunshine.

As for Adam, well, he is Adam and he was Adam through and through each week. It was great for Kris to break and cross that Adam winning barrier. His streak gave him the win. Adam got plain and unexciting, when Kris surprised us. That's why Kris won and Adam lost.

Adam will be very successful in America :)

PS: The biggest upset. Matt G no solo. Megan and Sarver had a duet. :(

Kris Allen to Win American Idol 8

Just when you think it's in the bag for Adam. Well, better watch the show tonight and decide.

Tonight was one of the most amazing nights in Idol history as Kris Allen and Adam Lambert hit the stage with a bang.

Round 1: Nostalgia

The season's two best songs were sung again by the two. Kris Allen's phenomenal discovery in "Ain't No Sunshine" possibly gave him the boost to end up in the final seat. Thus, a well-chosen song for the Finale.

Adam Lambert sang presumably the best performance of the season, "Mad World". It was the performance which blew Simon Cowell off his feet and gave Lambert his standing-o.

But tonight, Kris Allen did better. Adam Lambert appeared too theatrical. Kris Allen, with all his simplicity and great artistry made the song work.

So, as Simon says, Round 1 goes to Kris.

PS: I think the song of the season, now, would be Heartless. Last year, it was Always Be My Baby by David Cook.

Round 2: Producer's Choice Sucks

The second round of songs were chosen by the producers.

Kris Allen sang What's Goin' On? with the guitars. It was again, fresh and listening to it really gives delight. He again nailed it even if it was too simple for him to sing.

But then gave an outstanding delivery of the song A Change is Gonna Come. Though I hate his style, I gotta give credit with his again, defying vocals which really sounded good except at times that he's making it rock-ish. Adam's back in the game and gets Round 2.

Round 3: No Boundaries

Kara Dioguardi penned this year's coronation song, No Boundaries. Lame at all levels, and sabotage to Kris. :/

Kris' take on it was as usual simple, with great phrasing and it came out as really fresh. Something he can record in his album. I think it had less impact but will still enable for him to win the game. Kris just amazes anyone with his smooth voice, no need to screech, and how he went from no-show at the auditions to a final two contender. Seeing him on stage just gives you so much goosebumps. Judging from overall growth and likability in the competition, Kris wins this one.

Adam's take on it was better vocally. But it didn't move me, even if his face looks like he's really really in pain. I think he failed on connecting to the audience and the people watching. He has the better range, fit for the song but then, he didn't really up the whole thing to swallow Kris' performance whole. And it wasn't that electrifying as Kris'.

So why will Adam win?

'Cause he was laud to be the best contestant in years. He has that versatility and wide vocal range to carry any song he likes. He has that star potential and charms that might give him a world superstardom status.

But then again, he revealed he was gay (even if it shouldn't matter, it does). And a lot of those fans who wanted their Idols to win (like Matt Giraud, Anoop Desai, Gokey fans wouldn't want for Adam to win) so...

So why will Kris win?

Because he had the most recent pimped performance with Heartless. His momentum has just came. He has the charms that any gay guy or girl would die for. He has that sustaining ability to stand strong in the business. He has such a fresh, unique taste and genre in the industry; it would be hard for him to be ignored.

He was the darkhorse to win this thing and everybody loves growth, which he has shown through and through with his performances.

He has the total package. His albums will sell millions. He has the second best studio recordings. Yes, second to Matt Giraud. His performances were not phenomenal but we're unforgettable. She Works Hard for the Money, Ain't No Sunshine, Fallin' Slowly, Apologize and Heartless are just viral songs he produced this season. They weren't the best and most powerful renditions but they were able to make people want more from him.

Kris Allen shall win American Idol. I hope tomorrow I'd wake up and check the results and will be astonished as Kris wins American Idol. Or this is a cookout.

PS: I can't wait for Matt's solo tomorrow. :]

The one I really envy. You got the one and it did not even took you a long shot to get the person you like. I am happy that you have found the person that you wanted. I hope that you'd be perfect together. I didn't think that you'd be able to pull it off, but you did. And now, you two, remain to be what you two want you two to be.

The one I wanna be. You got everything. The brain that can easily juggle other people's minds. Those lips that can really turn any argument ruled out. Those charms that weakens even my knees. That kind of personality that you can carry even at the most unfortunate times.

The one I really really like. You know who you are. I hope you pass by. I still can feel that touch, that spark on your eyes, that awkward, lanky body. I miss you already. I want to see you, and feel the warmth of your palm locked with my hand. We will walk again. We shall talk again. We shall see each other again. I am very much willing to discover what we haven't with each other yet. I am very much curious as how everything will turn out for us. You were the perfect remedy for a broken heart.

For someone who got left behind at the same moment by someone who I had thought of to be the one. You saved me.

Miss Philippines Earth 2009 Bets

Every pageant analyst would tell you that Sandra Seifert, Miss Negros Occidental, has the greatest chance on winning the coveted title of Miss Philippines-Earth. Sandra joined Binibining Pilipinas 2009 but got dropped out from the competition because of her FHM pictures. Now, I don't see anything wrong there, ayt? Hehe.

But along Sandra are a lot of beauties. Anyone could bring home the crown tonight.

Miss Victorias is Adie Adelantar, a UP Diliman alumni. I bet this girl will up the competition because of her brains and she's pretty sexy too.

Add to the pool the beauty Miss Fil West Coast, Charmaine Chiong. Miss Apalit,Vanessa Johnson, also a Binibining Pilipinas semifinalist, is a stunner in the competition.

I Blog 5

After I checked my e-mail last night, I went back to the dormitory and lay myself to the bed. In a snap, I drowsed off.

And I dreamt of an I Blog 6 being held in the University of the Philippines Theater, with loads of sponsors and thousands of bloggers.

And when I woke up, I realized I just got a hangover from a very fun-filled event.

Yesterday was the I Blog 5: The Philippine Blogging Summit. One of the events I most anticipate. Besides the 'meet and greet' default purpose of the event, a simple blogger like me, learned a lot of things.

The morning session was devoted to the more interesting parts and the fundamentals of using different types of medium in blogging. I was not able to be at the event to watch the speech from my friend Mica and her partner AJ Matela, but I was able to see Poyt and Fritz's Photoblogging part.

The part I loved the most was the Video Blogging segment by the Faboulous Kring and Azrael. It was a funny segment and I really appreciate how they handled the part given to them. It was a breathe of fresh air when Ka Edong took the stage for an interesting topic about Mobile Blogging. Truly, the cellphone is a mighty tool.

My ex co-PBB Fantasy Game housemate Benj was the next one to speak about the whatnots and what to do's in blogging. It was an intense, debate-ish piece he delivered there. It was amazing how Juned Sonido made it calmer at the half of the segment.

This blogging event had too much to offer! I thought it was the last morning segment. But comes Coy Caballes and Winston Almendras for blog promotion and traffic strategies. I noted important new techniques so that I can use it on my blog, too.

I learned that I won't be able to get the free lunch since I was late, though I registered. I hope that they told us beforehand that the free food would be for the first few only. Some of the people there didn't bring as much money, for the heck of learning and meeting new people.

I came back at the event around 1:30 for the afternoon session. I found the Atty. JJ Disini, on the stage tackling about copyright laws and legal aspects in blogging. T'was kinda great to know what things you can do to prevent people from copying your content.

I seriously think that bloggers has a huge role in the coming Philippine Elections on 2010. That's why, though how serious the topic is, and how naughty me and my colleagues Gee, Martin and Thor are, we decided to pay attention to this part of the segment. Hey, its not really boring to get yourself informed on topics like automation of elections and how we can disseminate information through blogging during the elections. This goes to show how blogging can be an influential tool in the outcome of the elections next year. Next was Ms. Janette Toral's follow-up about the topic.

The sponsors were also given loads of time this year to advertise their product. Next.

And then, problogging. The part where most of the bloggers want to venture into. Fitz talked about what probloggers would advice to do to attain success in the blogging and the things they would not usually tell. It was actually a great segment, too! It made things look easier now that the tips were simple and were made to seem like its doable.

What most of the bloggers have to learn is, that blogging should be brought up by your passion and what interests you. You didn't blog to just earn money. Bloggers blog to share, disseminate information, to express ourselve freely, to impart something from ourselves to other people who can share their opinions on a variety of topics and situations we get into.

There's really future in blogging. It is really growing.

I was able to be at the I Blog 4 last year. Man, this was a huge success! The bloggers who attended this year are of new breed. A lot of them I didn't recognize from last year. I Blog 5 had a lot of people, of different ages, of different interests. Its nothing but a great achievement for Filipino bloggers.

And of course, it was fun to institute real-life connections with the people we meet online. Its also fun to meet and greet people. Sometimes, its also funny since we call each other by our web pseudonyms.

Gah, I had a blast. I just don't have enough energy more to go to that after party. And I have no one to come with me there, too.

Though, when some people arrived, I kinda got nervous and then when my name was raffled for the shirts. Someone said "What the fuck?". And I knew who that was. But its okay. I'm used to that.

But I got a shirt! :) So I am happy.... And...

So, see you in I Blog 6. And I hope for a bigger venue, more sponsors, more freebies and more interesting topics! More friends and loads of fun!

UP Graduation Rites. Busy-ness. Isobar.

UP Graduation Rites

I am really hopeful to graduate on time. Seeing these dormmates who were ones students like me, striving hard to graduate, with their sablay makes me really really feel the excitement and the pressure. Excited because two more years and I'm off from college. Four grueling semesters, that is. There goes the pressure.

There they were. Leaving the dormitory, so proud of themselves. Finally, they have passed through this phase of their life. And I wish that by that time I could be proud of myself, too.

Busy-ness

Organizational work's are hefty this summer. Of course, we have to prepare for the freshman welcome programs here and there. And I, as the Publicity Head, shall double my efforts since first impressions last and when freshmen comes to our booth and they see crap... bye bye prospective members.

Mind you, there are a lot of things to do. I have four projects for the freshman week. Two for PSME-UPSU; one for the ME workgroup and one for UPDOSTSA. Help me find time, and money, and energy to be able to accomplish all of these tasks.

Isobar

Maybe a lot of you are thinking about why I named my new layout Isobar. Isobar, in thermodynamics, means constant pressure. And constant pressure is what I'm going through right now. Nice fit, ayt?

AI Top 7: Disco Surprise!: Kris and Adam Topped; Lil and Anoop In Danger

Disco week on American Idol this week. Here's my ranking of their performances.

Kris Allen. He sang She Works Hard for the Money. It sounded Santana-ish but with a bit of cool and preppy tune on it. Kris is the darkhorse to win this. I predict he will. :]

Adam Lambert. Yes, he had a great performance. Next.

Matt Giraud. Though I kinda agree that it sounded a bit desperate, I think Matt has powerfully showcased his talent and his vocal quality this week. I hope that he's really Stayin' Alive in the competition.

Allison Iraheta. She lacked star power. And again, the arrangement was kinda awkward. Too slow at the start and too low vocals. She has some moments there but still, I think, her identity didn't really shine with the song.

Danny Gokey. Sounded pretty much like last week, and last last week, and last last last ...

Anoop Desai. Anoop had a pretty fresh look tonight but that performance kinda blew it out for him. The ballad part, it was okay. But when the tempo started to jack up, it was kinda whacked out already.

Lil Rounds. That's it. No one wants to listen to her anymore.

I think there will be no bottom three this week. Each contestant will be called out to either left or right of the stage. Adam Lambert will be asked to sit down before anyone else.

From the two groups, one will be eliminated.

I can sense an Allison-Anoop boot this week. If not, then Lil-Anoop. :]

I am really hoping for a Danny Gokey surprise elimination this week. :]

AI Top 7: Anoop and Kris Rocked: Save Matt!

This week, for me, the top three were Kris, Anoop and Allison.
And the worst performances were from Lil and Matt. But I hate that Lil's on the pimpspot.

Prediction on results tomorrow:
We will not have a bottom three. Instead, its grouping time ala season 7.
And I guess, Matt, Lil or Anoop will be most likely booted out.

I think the judges save will be on play this week for either Matt, Lil or Anoop.
Allison can also be in danger being the first one to sing.

There are only two people safe tonight and that's Gokey and Lambert. And I hate it.

What A Great Sem Ender!

What a way to end a seemingly great semester. Yesterday, I took two exams.The night before, I slept early and set my phone alarm at 3am to study for my major. By 6am, I dragged myself from my bed to the bathroom to take a shower, afterwards, I zoomed off and prepare myself for the Kas 2 examinations.

As I went at the examination room, I got bothered as a lot of people are memorizing things and stuffs from the readings given to us. Then, the examination came. I answered them, half of the whole examination, I relied on my gut feel. Half, I relied on stored knowledge and the 10-point joke.

It was a mess. I asked my professor if I'll fail the course. He just told me its only 25% of our grade; an indication not to worry.

But that was the least of the things I have to worry about for that day.

As soon as I finished the examination, me with my Kas 2 friends went our way home. And I studied soooo much for the ES 12 exams. I really have to take this seriously as I really need to pass this subject. First, I promised my ex-ES 12 professor that I will pass the course this time around. Second, I would get delayed for a semester if ever I don't pass it. Third, there's a huge chance that I'd get kicked out of the department if I fail it because of the two take rule.

And so I studied. I finished two chapters earlier and a couple more to wrap up the review before lunch. My orgmate/friend, Cielo, texted me so that we can study together and eat lunch together. We answered previous Finals Exams and did our best to stall the remaining few things we need to put in our brains hours before our doom.

Then, 4 pm came. I was so excited. I know that of all the exams this semester, this is the one I anticipated sooo much. Of all the five exams for the subject, this was the one I prepared so much for. And I answered questions well. For some, I have two options ending up to choose one which I think is more logical choice. The concepts part, where I used deduction to arrive at an answer.

The examination wasn't completely hard; its just so damn tricky. Any possible answer you can get were in the choices. I think I answered it well. But when I heard to what my classmates answered, it couldn't get any worse. There were some questions wherein I changed my answers, it ended up that my first choice was right. Super sayang!

To think that this is a make or break exam, wherein I need almost 40 out of the 50 items to pass. I think I blew my chances away.

Thinking how important this is for me, as soon as I sped off from Mcdo (after having a dinner with my orgmates), I cried so much. I know I could've done better. I didn't want to let them know that I didn't feel well that night. I cried the whole night thinking what will happen.

Still now, I'm bothered. Too worried of the results and what might happen. I lost the itsy-bitsy self-confidence I have left after that. I don't want to take the course for the third time.

Pray for me, please. I really need it.

The ES 12 stuff's still bugging me as I write this, and this would go until Tuesday as I'll know the results. I sooo hope that it'll be alright.

I Passed ES 13!

The most dreaded ES subject. Yes, I passed it!

They curved the Finals from 53 items to 45. At first, I didn't make it. But my 5th Long Exams score is just a few points away to a passing score. Even my finals score is just a point away to passing the course.

But I didn't stop there, I did what was necessary to do. I didn't want to take the course anymore. I know I have put so much effort to passing the course and if only a few points splits up my chances of passing, I'd have to be determined and take actions. I then went to the professor who checked one of the problems; at first, he was hesitant to give me additional points. When I saw a paper, with the same answer as mines but with a score of 40 points (mines was scored 25), I immediately took that opportunity to get additional points.

Then, I went to the other professor who checked the other problem. He didn't give me any points. The thing is, I only need 6 points to pass. I was mummified; I felt like I blew it. I lost my chances of passing the course. But I know myself, I know I deserve to pass. I went back to the first checker of the 5th exam and I asked if I can still get 6 points for my only mistake in the problem is that I memorized the wrong formula and I concluded the wrong scenario. (Like, if sigma creep is less than sigma yield, then, it will fail by yielding.which should be buckling)

He said that he'll wait for my professor. There were two of us who were asking for points. When my professor came, they deliberated. And when they asked us to come after the deliberation, fortunately for me, I was credited 10 more points. Unfortunately, my classmate has to beg points from the terror professor again.

I was so relieved. I then gave my 5th Exam paper to my professor to record the adjustments. It was sooo worth it. Even if I wasn't able to study for Kas 2 (from 1-5pm, since I scheduled that I would), its just so rewarding to see that 60.27 raw score and the 3.0 mark beside my student number.

Afterwards, my other classmate who I was with earlier (who had the same situation), and I just hugged each other. We knew we needed to pass and now that we passed, we found comfort.

Ha! I only need to pass ES 12, and I'd be able to finish my ES by Summer! And I can now catch up with my blockmates! Woot for that!

American Idol Top 9: Who's Leaving?

This week got me sad. For me, the better singers tonight were of course Kris Allen, Allison Iraheta and Daniel Gokey.

Among the worst for me were Anoop Desai, Megan Joy and Matt Giraud. He had my hopes down. Arrgh. I won't be surprised if he's going home this week.

But I am predicting it would be Allison Iraheta, Megan Joy and Matt Giraud in the bottom three.
Anyone could go home, I predict it would be Megan Joy's time to go.

And next week, its the surprise boot week so be ready for another Michael Johns ouster. Uhm, Matt Giraud is definitely in danger now.

American Idol Top 10: Motown Week

For me, the weakest three of the night were Megan, Michael and Scott.
The three best for me were Adam, Allison and Matt G. :)

Here Comes Hell Week

The first stroke of hell week rushed in last night as I took the penultimate exam in ES 12. And I always panic after that, since I know that the ES 13 exams will come two days after.

But here, I'm stuck using someone else's laptop and haven't started reading or solving problems yet. Rawr. I really don't know how to start things.

I have two more exams on ES 13. One tomorrow, one on the thirtieth. I have one more exam on ES 12, on April 4th. Add to that Kas 2, I have a 20-page paper due on Wednesday (and all I have is zero) and an exam on April 2nd (readings galore!). I also have pending work to do. I have a mechanism project for ME 41 due on Friday. A machine problem in ME 91 due on Saturday (with a 20-page paper too!). DEFINE HELL WEEK.

Anyway, that's just a quick update. I just don't want this space forgotten. I'll be back very soon. :) Promise.

American Idol Top 11: Country Week; Matt Climbs Up, Alexis Bubbles Down

To give you guys a better look at how the Top 11 show went, I'll be ranking the contestants based on how I think they fared this week.

So let us start with a surprising Matt Giraud pulling off "So Small" by Carrie Underwood. He had the best performance and slammed Gokey this week. He's probably safe but he needs a little more pimping.

Next on my list would be Anoop Desai. His performance tonight would be miles away from last week's. He chose the right song and it shows how good he really is. Anoop will probably be safe.

Kris Allen surprised everyone with a terrific version of "To Make You Feel My Love”. Added to his charming personality, he was able to blow away the audience with his voice.

Adam Lambert wowed the audience tonight with "Ring of Fire". For me, he's too theatric and overrated but it was quite good.

Taking on Carrie Underwood's "Jesus Take The Wheel", Daniel Gokey might have one of the best voices in the competition but it wasn't spectacular nor it was excellent.

Lil Rounds' Independence Day didn't turn out to be that good as well. It sounded pitchy and like the judges, I think it was a wrong song choice for her.

Scott Macintyre's take on "Wild Angels" was kind of boring. Though he brings class to the stage, for me, its not spectacular and he's not an Idol material.

Allison Iraheta made the song work. She's getting better and better but I do believe she's always giving safe performances. She definitely lost that spunk she had on the semis.

For tonight, my bottom three would be Michael Sarver (Ain't Goin Down Till The Sun Comes Up), Megan Joy (Walking After Midnight) and Alexis Grace (Jolene).

Tonight, it would probably be Alexis Grace that goes home. Or maybe we're in for a big shocker because Allison and Michael can be sooo forgettable.

American Idol Top 13: Michael Jackson Week

Its now time for the top 13 to battle it out on a bigger stage. And here are my comments.

Lil Rounds (The Way You Make Me Feel) Most of the judges loved her performance. She has a great voice, I think. But she lacked for me, some personality.

Scott Macintyre (Keep the Faith)Scott turned out to be a little like Brooke singing Hero in this one. Its a safe performance and I do agree with Simon that it was a bad song choice.

Danny Gokey (Pretty Young Thing)I don't really get the hype with Gokey. Though he has great vocals, I don't think he'll be a great "Idol" winner.

Michael Sarver (You Are Not Alone)What I like about this guy is that even he can be easily forgotten, he sings soulfully and passionately. He might not be as good as anybody is but he definitely knows how to sing and how to sing with heart.

Jasmine Murray (I'll Be There) I just want her out of the competition. NOW.

Kris Allen (Remember The Time)Kris has the spunk and as of now, I can see him going through week after week with this plus his charms.

Allison Iraheta (Give It To Me)Though she struggled much towards the end of the song, I still like her. Kinda reminds me of Kelly Clarkson.

Anoop Desai (Beat It)I know. He sucked last night but we all know he's through. I still like him.

Jorge Nunez (Never Say Goodbye)Bye Bye Jorge. That's the end of your Idol journey.

Megan Joy (Rockin' Robin) I got bored with her performance.But she's pretty and quirky.

Adam Lambert (Black and White)Adam was excellent. He has the star potential and someone I can see crossing the Final 4 at the very least.

Matt Giraud (Human Nature)Matt melts everyone. I am definitely supporting this guy. I hope to see him through till the end.

Alexis Grace (Dirty Diana)Did not end the show with a bang but her performance was okay.

For me, the bottom three would be:

My first ever Pisme (Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers) buddy, JOSE LEANDRO "JOSE" ALINEA, ran for USC Councilor. At first, he really wants to see a change in the system aiming for the Department Representative slot, hoping that with that, he can be a part of the change he wants to see. But his credentials were fit for a USC Councilor, and when he was asked if he could run, without a doubt, he said YES. Knowing him, its probably his passion for serving the UP studentry that made him to accept the nomination.

Trials rose along his application but he never gave up. He is determined and strong-willed as ever. He continued to fight for his right to be a candidate in the USC Councilor seat. Please help him be your voice to the USC.

During one of my visits at the Kaisa Headquarters in time for the upcoming USC Elections in UP Diliman, Sanlakas Youth Vice Chair BJ Costales introduced three of his slatemates for an orientation to our organization.

They are BJ’s co-councilor Jose Alinea of the College of Engineering, Tourism Representative Sheena Botiwey and Science Representative Gino Leynes.

All of them exudes a leader’s presence at first glance and were eventually recruited to Sanlakas Youth. I had a couple of chit-chats with each of them hours after but Jose’s story is the most interesting for me. His story speaks alot of his character.

Jose is one of the living reasons why the tuition increase should not have been approved two years ago. He is also one of the greatest arguments in support of the assertion that the STFAP has never been effective to aid poor-but-deserving students in pursuing UP education.

This Sta. Rosa Science High School alumnus told me that both his parents are unemployed. His mother was actually problematic about his college education after he failed to qualify for Bracket C of the STFAP. So despite his family’s obvious difficult condition, UP is still requiring him to pay 600 pesos per unit.

It is a good thing though that through his intelligence and diligence, he managed to be a scholar of the Department of Science and Technology.

But I’ve never seen him as a grade-conscious student. All the support that he is getting from his officers and co-members from the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers speaks a lot how active he is.

And as we unify Kaisa member-organizations about a disqualification case against his and some of his slatemates’ candidacy, it turned out that NCPAGSC Vice Chair Jhai Galenzoga is one of his dormmates, at the Yakal Residence Hall, and she was disheartened of the possibility of UP students being robbed of the opportunity to vote someone like Jose.

“Napakasipag na bata pa naman ni Jose,” Jhai disappointedly commented. Well, as a frequent visitor of the Kaisa HQ and as a keen observer of candidates’ behaviour, I must agree.

That same day that I managed to inform Jhai of the disqualification issue, Kaisa marched towards Quezon Hall and met with another party, Stand UP, to protest the said USEB decision.

The unity of Kaisa and Stand UP that night bore fruit as it produced enough pressure to make the USEB decide in favor of the supposedly disqualified candidates including Jose.

That night, cheers reverberated at the Kaisa HQ in celebration of that victory. And as I observe all of them, Jose is there silently smiling in his usual unassuming way.

I hope he is thinking that it is a good thing that he is now given a chance to fight for the rights of students like him; of working class origin.

(Condensed Version of the MANIFESTO OF PROTEST AND APPEAL: To the Memorandum of Student Regent Shahana Abdulwahid)

The new UP Charter requires that the rules and qualifications for the selection of the Student Regent must be approved by the students in a referendum. This is not, as some claim, a “threat” to the Office of the Student Regent. “A referendum is a means of assessing public reaction to the given issues submitted to the people for their consideration. It is consultative in character.” (Philippine Law Dictionary, 2005). For this reason, we welcome this statutory requirement as an opportunity for the students to participate in the decade-long debate surrounding the selection of the student regent.

The Codified Rules for Student Regent Selection (CRSRS) has faced consistent and rational opposition from a considerable number of student councils who raise the same proposals yearly for the consideration of the General Assembly of Student Councils (GASC). Hardly has this debate ever reached the students who are the real stake holders in the selection of their sole representative in the Board of Regents. This year, six student councils submitted proposals for inclusion in the ballot for the referendum, namely:

(1) the inclusion of a minimum academic requirement as qualification for nomination of the SR;

(2) the inclusion of an express enumeration of powers and responsibilities of the SR;

(3) the democratization of the voting structure taking into account the relative sizes of all units, without sacrificing the smaller units;

(4) the de-politicization of the SR selection process by deleting in the rules the Kasama sa UP, a political alliance composed of several student councils; and

(5) the rationalization of the selection process by extending the effectivity of the rules to at least 3 years, instead of the current system of annual amendment.

Unfortunately, upon the discretion of the SR, these proposals were excluded in the crafting of the ballot for the referendum which now basically asks us to say “yes” or “no” to the CRSRS. In this oversimplified form and with the campaign to defend the Student Regent from an illusory threat, the democratic space of the students has, in consequence, been narrowed. In effect, what the proponents of the CRSRS and the Defend the Student Regent campaign are telling us is that a “no” to the CRSRS is a “no” to the student regent. What is true however, is that a “no” vote is as valid an exercise of opinion as a “yes.” But we are being prevented to exercise this discretion because of the claim that if a majority of the students vote “no”, it would result in a vacancy in the Office of the Student Regent and a loss of student representation in the BOR. The law, jurisprudence and the legal opinion of the VP for legal affairs tell us otherwise. What it tells us is that in case a student regent is not selected, the incumbent student regent will hold office until a new one is appointed (Lecaroz v. Sandiganbayan 305 SCRA 396) and if the student regent can no longer hold office, the vacancy will be filled in the same manner as the predecessor (Section 2, par 2 R.A. 9500).

It does not even have to come to this. If the ballot includes the proposals, the students will be given more choices instead of being confined to two; if they do not approve the CRSRS, they can alternatively include various amendments. This would maximize the referendum which financially and logistically is not easy to conduct.

But the student regent insists that our main and urgent task is to have the CRSRS placed in a referendum effectively reducing the democratic participation of the studentry to that of a rubber stamp to the status quo. That is not what democratic student participation is for. In times when our national leadership is consistently oblivious to the true expression of our people’s aspirations, and when the powers-that-be continue to dominate and mute worthy dissent, there is all the more gripping reason for student leaders in the University of the Philippines, to want to know what the students specifically want in their SR. In this referendum, we dare to ask the students what they want of their SR.

Thus, we strongly urge the SR to include the proposals of several student councils in the ballot. We demand that she halt the growing misapprehension that a “no” to the CRSRS, is a “no” to the OSR.

More importantly, we urge the students of our university to join us in our call for genuine democratic participation.

Here's my wishlist for 2009.

Polo Shirts and Socks. I need 'em badly. I checked my closet the day I left the dormitory and all I see are Engineering and UP shirts! Ha. For polo shirts, blue and green ones. For socks, black and white na matibay. My birthday's nearing and if someone there's planning to buy me a gift. Ito lang ang gusto ko. Haha. May nakontrata na nga ako eh. HAHA.

UP Siglo Items. That includes the UP Jacket (which by the way is worth Php800), a new UP lanyard (I lost the other one last Lantern Parade) and a UP 2009 Planner.

Boredom and Realizations.

Ha. I miss blogging. My blog has been my bestfriend throughout college. He never fails to listen everytime I need to rant about things. He never fails to make me feel better after every sad phase of my life. My blog knows me a lot. There are a few entries I don't publish that only my blog knows, and he keeps everything safe and secured, private. I just realized that he helped me go through lots of things. My blog has been a witness to my frustrations, realizations and victories for the past three years. Maybe without him, I'd be uber supressed. This blog's been up for quite a few years already, amazing. Click it here. I did some back reading and look back at some of the memories we shared together. Some entries, I can't help but laugh, some I can't help but cry.

Boredom.

Takipsilim. Apparently, ABS-CBN bought the rights for a teleserye spinoff of Twilight. A lot of Pinoy fans wouldn't want it to happen. Thus, the reason why a thread full of "ABS CBN will ruin this Twilight shiznit" welcomes me everytime I visit Multiply.

My reaction. I don't actually care. Even if Twilight was super duper mega hyped since early this year and then to top it off, the movie. I didn't gain interest into actually reading the book nor watching the movie. I don't easily go with the flow eh.

Though I feel for these die-hard fans, its like GMA 7 ruining the Survivor franchise, I don't think we could put a stop on it na. All we have to do is to accept it and hope that ABS-CBN make a splendid job of it. Spirits was actually good. *erm, I think it was good, Maja Salvador LOVE*

Pero please, stop flooding Multiply na ha!?

Celebrity Crushes. I had always been a fan of Angel Locsin. Though I think switching to ABS-CBN did her any good, I still think she's hot. *erm, his Charley days on Click most specially*

And I was never a fan of Cristine Reyes until Eva Fonda. Gawd. I definitely missed a lot. She was a forgettable face in Starstruck 1. But I always thought she shouldn't have been eliminated that early. I never knew SHE. COULD. BE. THIS. HOT. Haha.

A Thing For Dancers. I watched some episodes of So You Think You Can Dance in YT and I tell you that show's full of hot dancers. I never knew I had a thing for dancers until the past month. I was like going gaga over some celebrities and friends who're like so hot when they dance and like so meh, after dancing. Again, this might just be brought up by the Indakan fever but 'twas actually good that I now appreciate "dancing" more than ever.

I have a little crush on my two dormmates because of them being good at dancing. I love Maja Salvador even more!

Pasttime. Yes. Ako na ang aliping namamahay. I cook. I wash the dishes. I buy what's needed. I cleaned the garage. Everything. Pero nagagawa ko pa din mag-internet and mag-text. *even if I have three ME 73 papers due on January 10 (good news: I already finished one!)*

Holiday Fever. I always love this time of the year. As many of my batchmates from highschool and elementary texts me a lot and are very much willing to meet up to roam around this boring city. But what makes my stay here special are the people I grew up with and of course my family. We do things just for the heck of it. Just for the time we can spend with each other.

But I miss my UP dormmates, my friends since Kalai and my newfound friends in Molave.
Most of all, I miss my orgmates, some UPDOSTSA members and my super love na org even if five months pa lang ako since induction PSME-UPSU (Pisme'). I miss a lot of them. The past two months, Pisme ang buhay ko. They were my friends and my family (besides SD - extended family) in UP. I never have to change to be with them. What I love about them is that they're all genuine people. They lend their hands and ears when they know that there's a problem. They always try to understand me. With them, I find comfort. Its just amazing how we connect much and probably, know (AS IN KNOW) each other so well in just a short span of time. I love Pisme' ! And I miss you guys. Especially...

Realize.

I realized that its really not important if the one you love doesn't reciprocate the feelings you have for him/her. What's important is that you are loving the person you want to love and that love can take you a long way. You can learn a lot of things. What's important is that you are loving because you choose to and if its what it takes, then go.

As for me, it pays out that I don't get easily hurt. I do believe that this is an indication that I am a stronger person now. I always try to figure things out in my own way. I know now that even how many times I fall, it may not be that easy but I know I'll get through every problem. After all, I know that if I couldn't carry the burden anymore, I have friends who'll always be there to back me up.

I have finally decided to just let it be. If my feelings for her expire, then good. We can be friends more than ever. But I won't pressure myself to unlove her. I just can't. I hope if it does fade, the sooner, the better. *something's telling me, I'd be able to move on like after n years* I don't want to seem like a loser again.

However, I can always pretend that I don't have anymore feelings for her. That way I can retain the friendship. I can still love, even knowing she can't love me the way I would have wanted her to.

Lol. Realize. If you just realize, what I just realized. We'll be perfect for each other. We'll never find another. Just realize, what I just realized. We'll never have to wonder what we'll miss out on each other now.

We'll definitely miss a lot.

A Letter and Confusion.

One friend wrote me a letter. An orgmate. I'd try to tell you what it's all about. Its something like this.

Dear Rommel,

Recently, I'm trying to convice that I don't like this person much. But still, I end up trying. Maybe, I just can't resist a day not seeing her. This Engineering Week can't get any worse. She's a born dancer. That's why she'll be one of our organization's representative for Indakan '08, which by the way, will be held tomorrow at the UP Film Institute. Please support Team PiSME.

I always attend their practice. At times, I'll make excuses. Lousy ones. Just to be able to see her. Just to be able to be with her.

HA. I'm so sick of the feeling. I don't even know if I stand a chance. She's with someone.I don't know if its really serious. When I asked her, her reactions were very unclear. Its as if she doesn't care about her boyfriend. Its as if she didn't miss her.

Everytime, each time I see her stealing a glance at me, I feel the chills. I caught her doing that not only a couple of times. I don't know if I'm just assuming but she's just so special and I can't help it.

She always asks whenever she leaves, if I'm gonna come with her or them, or not. At times when I don't mind her, she's gonna ask me something. She's very thoughtful; she asks me about how my examination turned out and the like.

I don't wanna give meanings to whatever she's doing since I don't wanna break my heart. I don't wanna lose what a great friendship we have.

And this Engineering Week is killing me; these past few days, I see her pretty often. Well, we're classmates in most of the subjects. We frequently have study groups too. We always eat our lunch together, with our orgmates. HA. I wish I could confirm if she's interested too.

And if she's interested too, what shall I do? I'm so confused. And this is not only how complicated it can get. There are a lot of things that I can't say to you. A lot of things I can't say to her too.

I couldn't wait for the Holiday Break to come. I seriously need one week away from her.

As of now, I'm too much pre-occupied with the Engineering Week. And my first strike of hell week's just finished with six straight exams! Whew. I know right!? HELL.

I guess I have to enjoy my last three academic days of the year and spend the last week of the year resting. Then, I'd have to embrace the year 2009 with a big bang, and hope that it'd be a better year for me.

And finally, my friend and I can figure out the answers to our questions and the solutions to our problems.

Future Engineer's Second Semester Thoughts

Probably, this semester would be the most challenging. I know that this would be nearly as chaotic as last semester but what the heck --- I have to face this and try to do my best to at least be my old self again. The one who studies and prepares a lot for examinations; the one who's always ready 'cause he always know it all.

Here, I made a list of goals I have to meet for this semester.

Academics
I've been lounging in the 2.0 and below GWA for the past five semesters. Last semester was the lowest as I got a GWA of 3.0. Now I know that this is really my path, the field that I choose to live with. Now I have to adhere to the decision that I made. That should reflect on my grades.

With a very supportive set of orgmates, coursemates and barkada dormmates, I should do well.

Be A Responsible Org Person
I already resigned as the VP for Secretariat of the UP DOST Scholars' Association. Mainly because of my academics and other matters I have to attend to. I'd rather resign than to spend another semester with colleagues which doesn't have trust even a bit. Also, I believe that I made a lot of things possible and I felt unappreciated, unrecognized --- worse, I heard some things I didn't wanna hear.

On the brighter note, I can focus more on my other organization Pisme'. I was able to head an event last semester. I'm looking forward to show more of my skills and do my best for the betterment of the organization.

It also enables me to get closer and connected with my coursemates.

Discover Myself More
I really have to know what I really like. You might not get it but I'm quite confused in how the things are getting in control. A lot of things has happened this past year which affected and changed how I see things, how I see life.

Example? I have feelings for someone I should not be having for that person. I know that this kind of relationship might not work and might not be applicable for a long term one. But still, knowing the Mr. Hopeless Romantic that I am, would try to make it work. At least, for me to be happy.

I have an admiration for a colleague right now and I'm not really sure if it would be a good move to tell that person what I feel. It would be a lot easier if that person likes me too. Well, let's call that person Angel. And Angel's already taken. At least, that what Angel said. But, I still think we had a lot of chemistry. I just have to be more sensitive and be more understanding of the situation. I'd probably not tell Angel what I really feel --- not until I'm ready to be with this person.

Look Good, Lose Weight
I really have to lose weight. It'd be easier for me to fully discover myself if I'd be good-looking. Naisip ko din na a boss would much likely hire a neat-looking, smart and slim person. And I'm not that smart, and worse, I'm fat.

Save Money
I earned some from blogging, writing articles and tutorial jobs. May alkansya din ako but I still want to earn more, save more, and spend less. Lalo na if para lang sa food. I think I'm really not a thrifty person when it comes to food.

Find A Special Someone
It sure is good to find someone who'd always be there beside me. Someone who will care and have concern for me. I'm not really wanting someone just to have someone but it really sucks to be alone.

I hope that Angel would be a really good prospect. I just want to know how Angel feels and I hope that Angel will be able to accept me for all I am.

Pero siyempre, I have to look good for Angel. :-) When I'm prepared and able to take risks, it would be a perfect time for us to be together.
I hope that everything turns out for the better. I really had a lot to hope for and it would be great if this semester ends, if not all, most of this be accomplished. What's really interesting is if I'd be able to live up with these goals.

After three deadly days, I almost pass out because ES 13 is so mailap. Imagine, one teacher even had an interview just for the students to get slots for the subject. I brought two friends in the interview, and one of my friends was granted the slot. I was mummified. If I didn't bring my friend there, I could've gotten the slot. But God is so kind, there's a newly opened section that I was able to ge in. I cancelled my ES 12 TTh class in conflict and went straight to another professor to prerog for his ES 12 WF class.

Yes, I know that my schedule's pretty heavy during WF's but I like it this way. It would allow me to make use of my TTh afternoons in preparation for WF days. That also means I can still have a parttime work, maybe tutorials, afternoons of TTh.

My Monday class is the only schedule of the subject so, there's no choice but to have a Monday class. I hope this semester would be a blast for me and for you and the entire human race. HAHA. Corny.

That's it. I'll just have to pay tomorrow and get myself enrolled, officially.

Yes, after a week-long full of stress - just to make sure that my remaining grades are passing, I had my well-deserved, long-awaited semestral break. What I was thinking is how I could fit everything I have to do in just four days.

That was Wednesday. After I learned that I passed ES 21, I shouted "Yes, makakauwi na rin ako." It was a moment. Golden, perhaps. At least, it gave the two professors in front of me at that time, a reason to burst a laugh due to me, careless of what other people in the Engineering Science department may think, shouting my heart out that I can now go home - worry-free.

I felt ecstatic. After a few days of camping outside that office. I listed a few things I should cover within the four days of break. Number one in my priority would be setting up a mini-reunion with my highschool mates. Number two was to pay a visit with my dentist. Number three was to study the first few chapters of the ES 12 book (so that I would be able to pass the course next semester). Number four on my list would be planning the subjects I'd be taking up in the future semesters. Fifth, schedule the interview sessions for my organization's application. And sixth, spend some quality time together with my family.

I have accomplished most in my list, I think. So, even with so little time and so much to do, I definitely had a worthy mini-sembreak. I can't say that I had a blast but it sure was fun taking a rest for a while and not to worry much but to lay down in my bed the whole day or to watch my favorite series and of course --- EAT.

Its also a tradition (whenever I go home for semestral break )that I'd be the one in charge in cooking! So yeah, I'm pretty much the head of the kitchen for the past few days. I don't consider it as an obligation 'cause I enjoy doing it. Well, serving my parents while at home, would be the least thing I can do for all the things they've done for me.

Well, I hope you guys enjoyed your sembreak too!

As of now, I'm already here in Manila, getting ready for takeoff. Surely, this semester would be a lot harder than the previous one.

Even this enrolment thing makes my mind go crazy. I've got to sleep now. I have a seven o'clock appointment with my ineligibility status tomorrow, and I'm sure it'd be one hectic day.

The semester's almost over. All I have to do is wait for the results and meet the professors to beg, for them to pass me in their subjects, and professors who bite this kind of begging. They are rare. Almost inexistent.

Earlier, I took two exams --- the last out of a dozen, I had to take this past two weeks, excluding two Final papers for Anthropology 10. Out of the six subjects for this semester, on both of these subjects I have a failing status since the first exam.

I burned the midnight oil just to secure that I'll pass at least one of the two subjects. Even if I know I need 101.14% for the Finals in ES 12, I still took the exam, even if not reviewing. My professor confronted me that I need not take the Finals, but I obliged, for experience. The exam was actually easy. I submitted my paper an hour before the time out. I am still kinda hoping that I perfected the exam, and maybe still, I have a chance to get a passing mark. But I am prepared to get a 5.0, 'cause it's most likely to happen.

Then came the ME 63 exam in the afternoon. I only had the opportunity to skim through the book last night --- the night before the exam. Though I'm kinda delinquent in this subject, I fared quite well than what I expected with my exam results. I managed to get a 57.15% pre-final standing and needs only 70% to pass the course. I aced the exam earlier, I'd probably get a 2.75 for ME 63. Happy. I escaped probation! But I have to pass ES 21 and ES 1 to prevent delay.

That's it. I'm just updating you guys. Full of academic shit recently, aye?

Homestretch

Its the last week of exams and I wish it'd be over, but then, its quite ironic since I know if time gets faster than the usual, I'd be dead meat by the end of the semester.

As of now, there are only two subjects that I know, I'm sure to pass. There are two subjects which I thought I will be able to pass, but I am kinda nervous right now since I don't know if I really fared well in the Finals. I am actually pissed off since I only need 50% to pass both of this courses but it felt that with my Finals performance, there's a possibility that I'll fail.

On Saturday, I will take the ME 63 Finals in the afternoon and ES 12 in the morning. Though I know that I'd surely fail ES 12, I'd try my best to get a really good grade. No one knows when this teachers would curve the grades so that more students will pass.

Last week, I got pre-occupied with five exams and this past few days with the newsletter we have to produce for Molave Residence Hall, my dormitory. Yesterday, the first issue was distributed and I am so happy to have accomplished the project, as Associate Editor. The name of the newsletter is KANLAON.

So, two days ago, the CRS results for first run are out and...

Yes, I'm still hoping that I'd pass all of these subjects and I'm still hoping to get my scholarship back. :)

As of now, I'm looking forward to a fun sembreak. Would probably meet up with some classmates and batchmates and would probably be the main organizer of the met up or reunion thngy.

So last Monday was the start of CRS (Computerized Registration System) Enlistment in University of the Philippines - Diliman.

I enlisted the following subjects.

The following subjects are the subjects I need to enlist this semester to avoid delay in the course.

ME 91. The department offered only two sections. Both will be handled by Mr. Andre Publico. I prefer the 4-6:30 WF class. ME 91 is Numerical Methods in Mechanical Engineering.

ME 41. The department offered only two sections. Since I only want afternoon classes on WF's, I prefer the 1-3:30 class to be handled by Mr. Ace Puno. ME 41 is Mechanisms.

Other subjects that I need to take up.

ME 73. ME 73 is Mechanical Measurement and Instrumentation. Senior friends told us that its more of a laboratory course. It is also needed that you know much about Thermodynamics for this subject. It only has one schedule as far, and its on a Monday 10am-4 pm.

I need two GE's this semester. It's either I'll take PI 100 or EnE 131 or I need to be patient to get any of the following subjects: Geol 1, Arkiyoloji 2, Soc Sci 1, Soc Sci 3, Nat Sci 2 or STS.

I am still torned between these three subjects. ES 13, ME 131 or ME 165.

September is PSME Month

So, I have recently joined this Mechanical Engineering organization. It's called Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers- University of the Philippines Student Unit, which we fondly call, Pisme'.

I have only been in the organization for three months. It was just last June when I got inducted to be a member of the organization.

Three months had gone by, I don't feel any hostility. I have grown so much love for this organization, even as much as my first organization in that span of time.

Lemme give you a brief introduction of the organization. It started out as Kalipunan ng mga Inhinyeryong Mekanikal in 1993. It became extinct at a certain span of time and was reborn just last 2006, with only sixteen members. One of them is our adviser right now. Pisme' strived hard to become recognized, even if the department's not on our side. Pisme' pushed through with its objectives to promote Mechanical Engineering as a field, to help Mechanical Engineering students here and outside UP and to organize and facilitate events that aims to improve the industry.

Though much of our events cater students outside the university, and without proper support from the department; we have managed to stand alone and stood still up in this very moment as we vow to offer service to the country. From sixteen members, our unit already has 50 registered members as of 2007, and around 35 alumni from (2006-2008). For a degree program with 80 students a batch, this statistics is quite good. Considering there are two Mechanical Engineering organizations in the university, and the other, much-supported by the facult and has been in existence for years --- its really hard to invite members; but as of the moment we're quite even with both organizations having 50+ members. And on October, we will be inducting more members to the organization.

This month of September, we held three major events.

First off was PSME CUP where I was part of the Registrations Committee. We enjoyed a day of games and sports at the Department of Agrarian Reform Gymnasium. Six schools attened the cup with University of Sto. Tomas winning the overall championship title. University of the East-Manila, Technological Institute of the Philippines, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, New Era University and the University of the Philippines graced this event.

Next was one of the most-anticipated events of the month, the Mechanical Engineering Students' Convergence which was held at the Engineering Theater. Various speakers from different sectors of Mechanical Engineering industry were invited to provide career guidance talks and seminars to the future Mechanical Engineers.

Our sponsors from Emerson Climate Technologies Inc. provided lectures about the engineering industry.

I had the privilege to head an event and its the Brain MEsh 2008: 2nd National Mechanical Engineering Quiz Show which was also held at the College of Engineering last September 19-20. Bulacan State University won the championship title.

Fortunately for me and my co-head Bryan Allain Mendoza, the event was a huge success! Expanding to 24 teams this year from last year's roster of ten teams!

Last night was the culminating event of the PSME Month and the Alumni Homecoming. We also launched the Send ME to School Scholarship Progra and the PSME-UPSU Alumni Association. After a month of tiring but fun events, we all deserve a time to party! Thus, we danced our night off. Members, alumni and applicants were everywhere! The event was held at Kublai's Bar, Katipunan. It was also a good time for us new members and for the applicants to get to know the members who re-instituted the organization. Fun. Fun night!

Keep PSME in Motion. Move fast. Move now! :) PSME-UPSU's future is concrete. We're definitely alive and kicking! :)

Things Gone Out of Hand

Whew. I only have myself to blame. I have been quite a pasaway this past semester and when I received half of my midterm exams results, I knew it wouldn’t be so amusing.

My ES 21: Mathematical Methods of Engineering exam was difficult but I didn’t expect that I will only get a whopping 25% for it. By the way, it’s the lowest of all the failing marks I’ve garnered and for a subject I treasure so much, it definitely signifies an alert.

Yesterday, I received my ES 12: Dynamics of Rigid Bodies exam. Out of all the exams, this exam is the easiest but still, like the first two, I flunked it.

I had an exam last Tuesday in ME 63: Thermodynamics and I know, you know what happened. I wouldn’t be surprised if I scored really low.

I don’t know, I do believe I have good study habits. I study a lot but I study most effectively in the evening. I am really used to studying ‘til dawn but lately, I’ve been quite lazy since my roommate also wouldn’t want to open the lights these times. I requested a study light but all it does is drown me to sleep since its light isn’t enough to pump me up for work.

Well, as of now, I am still pumped up with Laarni Lozada winning Pinoy Dream Acamy Season 2 and is currently busy with the event I'm heading for Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers which is the 2nd National Mechanical Engineering Quiz Show called Brain Mesh.

I hope it gets better in the next days.

Undeniably, the best that's left in the competition, Laarni Losala, is set to face Van Pojas, Bugoy Bugayon, Liezel Garcia, Miguel Mendoza and Cris Pastor tonight as Pinoy Dream Academy nears its end at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Laarni started weak in the competition. With a phenomenal voice but a tired appearance, Laarni became a surprise after registering really excellent performances after the first two weeks of the competition. She was not expected to be a frontrunner. But as the competition heightens, Laarni has proven that she has what it takes to be the Grand Star Dreamer.

Laarni Losala is from Sultan Kudarat. Among her most unforgettable moments in the competition are the crying moments she had from the start, her feud with Miguel, Inaki and to most of her co-star dreamers.

But, lies in her is a voice of a diva. Her vocal prowess and stage presence has improved a lot since we saw her barely making it to the Top 16 scholars.

Personally, my three favorite scholars are Sen Nichols, Apple Abarquez and Laarni Losala.
For me, the three best singers of the competition are Laarni Losala, Liezel Garcia and Bugoy Bugayon.

And as six remains, my bet for the Big Night is Laarni Losala. Other two who makes up my list are Liezel Garcia and Miguel Mendoza. But, I am sure that Bugoy will be given a slot in the top three.

I am guessing that the Final Three will be Liezel, Laarni and Bugoy. From there on, its anybody's game. My wildcard would be Van. I think Cris will be surely in the sixth spot. Miguel can surprise us with a Top Three, remember Philippine Idol, he made it until the Top 4 because of the votes.

I hope Laarni wins. So key in PDA LAARNI and send to 231 or 2331.

Sleeping Problems? Oh Come On.

This happened a couple of days ago, when my teacher in ME 63 told us that we're gonna be having our 4th Long Exam the next day, even if we haven't discussed the topic (unsteady state, unsteady flow or USUF) to be covered in the exam.

I was panicking; that day, the ES 12 exam hasn't been rescheduled yet to Monday and its schedule is supposed to be today. So technically, I would have to maximize my time tor ES 12, ME 63 and ES 1 --- all exams scheduled one after another.

I made my homework in ES 21; I summarized my notes so that I won't be worrying much of it, since our teacher said the exam will benext Wednesday. Then, I wrote articles for the UPDOSTSA newsletter, a sample letter for the Brain MEsh. I also conceptualized the program format and schedule for the affair (since I am the coordinator for the event). All of these are due the next day, mind you.

It took me until 10 to 11 pm to finish all the paper works so I moved on to solving problems in my ES 12 book. This subject requires much time and it has been my daily routine to answer at least three problems --- even if a lot of the questions, I couldn't answer easily or I couldn't answer at all.

Around 12:30, I decided to open my ME 63 book and answer the problem set the teacher gave us. I have nothing to worry since I have read the coverage earlier that day. I just need some time to answer the five challenging questions she gave us. I wouldn't want to rely on the solutions manual of the book, since it won't give me much learning. So I strove hard to answer the problems, I actually did --- four of them I answered correctly, when I checked the solutions. Until it was already 2 am and all my roommates were asleep --- or so as I think.

My choosy and most of all sensitive roommate, we will name Mons, was still awake. Apparently, he can't sleep with the lights turned on. And so explains why he's been so magalaw and balisa when I thought he was sleeping already. Though at times, he's going out of the room, I thought, to take a pee. But it seems like he's bursting in anger because I'm still up, he can't sleep because I'm using the lights.

This is the lamest problem I have encountered with a roommate. He then murmured things such as bwisit and nakakainis. He punches the wall quite a few times. He makes the dabog sound. It was really really rude. I stayed silent so that he won't be triggered into doing something more violent.

All I was hoping is for him to stop his childish acts and let me do my thing so that I can finish onto the fifth problem and as per his wishes, I can turn off the lights.

The scene's not new to me anymore. He always does that. If his rules weren't manifested, we get to have this "love letter" along with his ugly (and when I say ugly --- I mean ugly!) handwriting, full of rants and pleads as if we've been so inconsiderate for the nth time to him.

Part of his letter: "I need my sleep! Maging considerate ka naman..." yada yada yada. This is only the third time that it happened, or fourth time? And the first time it happened after the last one, last month when he told me to do my stuff earlier --- for the nth time. I've been considerate enough the past weeks since I don't have a busy load but hell does he care if I turn the lights on. He's not the only one living in the room. I have a fourths share of it, and his wish that if I exceed the 12 MN limit that I go to the lobby so that he can sleep --- and me uncomfortably reviewing outside, pestered by mosquitoes and possibly --- boredom attacks = NOT REALLY AN IDEAL SITUATION for someone who's cramming for an unannounced examination the next day.

I won't let him bully me. I have this feeling that he can't sleep because he's more focused on bugging me and wanting the lights turned off rather than him concentrating, covering his eyes with his mattress, and trying to sleep. I have been tolerant enough.

I vow not to obey all his rules. I can accept some --- but he cannot put me in a position that won't make me or my other roommates be comfortable, in our own room.

Can't he just mind his own business? If he studies outside or inside, the hell I care, as much as he won't whistle when I'm still asleep (correction: when my other two roommates and I are still asleep), as long as he won't bang the door everytime he goes out of the room, as long as he won't drop his kitchen utensils in a padabog manner after he eats his breakfast and we're still asleep, 'cause its much more annoying than just having the lights turned on.

These issues aren't really big of a deal. Its not even worthy of the space I allotted here, but I just have to rant in his doings, I can't let it pass. He's not the boss, as he thinks he is.

You're no baby. If you're spoiled, then you have to straighten up things and face the reality. You can't always expect for people to do everything as you want. You can't expect us to attend your scheduled general clean-up 'cause we're much more of the "kapag natripan maglinis, tara linis tayo" type of persons. We clean our places regularly naman. Kung OC ka, 'wag mo kami idamay. When our place looks messy, it means that we're too busy and we can't find time to clean up the mess. If we have time, then we will. Relatively, our room looks like new pa nga, unlike other rooms, when I enter, sobrang makalat.

Most of all, as you said, we are old enough to clean our own mess. So, we don't need you nagging us to clean our places 'cause we will --- when we find time. I always try to make it less irritating to your eyes but you're too OC talaga and its hard to keep up with someone who has set the standards already; and won't really consider your reasons, even if given a valid explanation.

If he doesn't like what he's seeing, he has the option to leave the dormitory OR ask the OSH for him to transfer rooms. As long as I and my other roommates are in good terms, on the same views as to what should be implemented within the premises of our room --- I'm good, we're good; without someone like him who rants a lot, dictates a lot, shouts a lot, dribbles a lot, boasts a lot and talks a lot.

Piece of advice, mind your own business! Get irritated when its uber OA na talaga and not for lame reasons like, "I can't sleep because the lights are on!”, I have valid reasons why I have to be awake until the wee hours of the morning. I am doing something relevant, not just playing DOTA. I start my work early and I don't even waste my time to play any sport --- even if I wanted to.

Either you're lucky enough, you have plenty of time for such lazing or you’re the one who’s not doing your work early and the one who has no sense of time.

Ninoy Aquino Day

The Upsilon Sigma Phi organized a T-Shirt Design Contest to commemorate the heroism of the late Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Sr.

So, I made two designs. I actually didn't plan to join but my ex-roommate told me that I might win the 5,000 bucks prize. But, I was too lazy to make more intricate designs so I settled for these simple ones:

But this one won, maybe due to the creativity factor. An image of Ninoy Aquino's half-face with the LIVE Design. Very clever design, aight? Personally, the yellow color doesn't work for me.

ABOUT MY BLOG AND OTHER RACKETS

Sorry for leaving my blog for almost three weeks without a single update. It caused my Google Adsense earnings to dwindle down from almost a dollar a day to zero earnings in the past couple of weeks. But I still love Google since I can be assured that in the near future, I'll be having a laptop. Yes, I am almost certain that by the end of this year, I'll be having a laptop! Well, apart from Adsense, I make reviews and been into the SEO business through Miss Dine for whom I write articles for some blogs. I also engaged into tutorials and review centers.

Now you know what I've been into for the past weeks.

ACADEMICS

Even my academics won't spare me a bit. I had three major exams the past week. And two of them are on the same day. I really hope I pass them. I really need to finish this semester without any failing mark.

So today, our classes were suspended here in UP Diliman. Aside from the supposed-to-be "long weekend" which spans from Saturday up to tomorrow, we had another day off of our hectic school life. But then again, I had a class last Monday since we're really behind with the lessons.

Yesterday, I've scheduled a date with my organization buddy Jose since they're required to do so, but I backed off since I'm in for a terror Saturday. I have two exams on Saturday, yes, this coming Saturday. And I really have to prepare for it.

To top it all, our ME 63 (Thermodynamics) teacher gave us a bunch of homework to be submitted tomorrow. She also announced today that our 4th Long Exam will be tomorrow. Kamusta naman 'yon?

Pinoy Idol

Last Saturday, August 16, the Pinoy Idol Final Performance Night was staged at SMX Convention Center, at the SM Mall of Asia. And as expected, it was crappy. An hour full of boring performances and out-of-tune singers. I can't believe that I was actually watching the Top 3 out of the thousands who have auditioned for the competition.

The Idol franchise has been the most prestigious singing competition worldwide. In 2006, ABC 5, now TV5 sought the franchise from Fremantle Media and on December 2006, Mau Marcelo won over the frontrunners Jan Kurt Nieto and Gian Magdangal. Though her fans seem to be not visible aftermath, they resort to buying her albums and in in December of 2007, she represented the Philippines in the first ever Asian Idol.

Then, GMA 7 snatched the franchise from ABC 5 (who has been planning big for a season 2). And the rest is history...

That brought us the first ever GMA 7 Pinoy Idol Gretchen Espina, who's a University of the Philippines student, by the way. She's taking up BA European Languages and is in her graduating year when she joined the show. Greta is the daughter of the Biliran governor. She auditioned for Philippine Idol but she didn't even make it up to the Top 40.

The show has been criticized from its very first airing. It was not able to live up to the expectations that the viewers and Idol fans. From bad hosting to the show being not live. From a variety show director directing it to its mode of voting (limiting it to texting only). Better contestants being eliminated to Pinoy Idol Extra bloating drama. From unclear acoustics, ugly stage and irritating lightings to its truly fugly timeslot. From its incompetent judges to incompetent finalists making it to Top 12 (such as Sue Ellen, Warren Antig, Gretchen Espina).

Mediocre talents. Mediocre production. Inconsistencies in gala performances and elimination nights. Sometimes, there's an intro performance, sometimes none. Sometimes, there's a recap, sometimes none. Sometimes all of the judges comments, sometimes not. Judges being inconsistent to the finalists; commenting negatively to actually good performers and complementing the ones who should've been out since the start.

They have very poor cinematography. They don't know how to give drama to the performances. Everything's a mess. Bara-bara. It seems like the show was done just to get it done and over with. Total may IDOL naman sa title.

I believe that they should really have a reality check! The winner is crappy, just as crappy as the show is. Don't ever blame it to the audience since you were the ones who chose the Top 24. And what's with the duplicating of songs per Idol? Kid Camaya even outsang the finalist Jayann Bautista with I'll Never Love This Way Again.

Next, they weren't able to indulge the audience to vote for their favorites, which brought us to relatives and close friends being the only ones who are voting on who'll stay or not; I believe that Gretchen Espina won because of this. ABC 5 even beat them to it, producing a quality winner even if the other contenders are known to be "rich". Still, the deserving one won.

I knew it, since Bev Ejercito, Meryl David and Walton Zerrudo getting the boot Pre-finals stage, this franchise would be a shoutfest, and crappy in its truest sense. That's why I immediately made the site Vote for the Worst Pinoy: Iboto ang Lagpak. The site has proven to be a success, for a lot of people, after the elimination of Mae Flores, Penelope, Robby Navarro and Kid Camaya has really made efforts to encourage people to vote for Gretchen Espina or Warren Antig--- aiming to stop GMA 7 murdering the Idol show.

Even some of the Top 24 that I have talked to couldn't agree more on how this show got downplayed to a Pinoy Pop Superstar-type of singing contest.

The show is nowhere close to AMERICAN IDOL, not even a spec of PHILIPPINE IDOL.
Bring the show back to where it belongs, bring it back to TV5.

I would have spared Pinoy Idol an ounce of respect if it manipulated the results come Final Three and included either Daryl Celis or Kid Camaya into it. But they didn't, and now we resort to a crappy winner. A dismayed runner-up.

I remember the Philippine Idol finale to be grandeus, magical and like a concert being shown in TV. It topbilled and headlined top papers in the country.

Pinoy Idol, I can only hear the sound of crickets aftermath.

BEIJING OLYMPICS SPELLS PHELPS

Michael Phelps. Michael Phelps. Michael Phelps. Olympics is equal to Michael Phelps. Need I say more.

He has garnered eight gold medals in a single olympics! GAWWD.

And come on! A total of sixteen medals! What the.

GOSSIP GIRL

And it's really back! I miss the show. I really hope that it won't disappoint me. The Season 1 Finale was such a bore. But this promotional poster is intriguing.

PINOY DREAM ACADEMY: LAARNI OWNAGE!

Even though I have lots and lots of extra-curriculars, I still find time to watch this show. What makes it more appealing is that it has scholars full of personality. Currently, Laarni Losala is my favorite. For me, Bugoy has a good voice but not a winner material. Liezel and Cris lacks personality. I am predicting a Van-Sen-Laarni final three.

I HEART BETTY LA FEA

One of the shows that I'm looking forward to air. What's best is that they retained the Bea Alonzo-John Lloyd Cruz tandem which just suits the concept of the show. I am uber excited.

LIPGLOSS

Last August 8, ABC 5 officially signed off and TV 5 replaced it and one of the shows that I really enjoyed is this: Lipgloss! It's a Gossip Girl spinoff but the blogger is revealed and its a guy (Sam Concepcion). It's getting really exciting.

Anyway, that's about it. Random things, huh? I hope that I was able to fill you in with the recent happenings!

University of the Philippines

Here's a blog post from a ~~bitter~~ very opinionated blogger , named Dennis that made UP bloggers and other bloggers go wild at Plurk last night.

UP Students: Fake Scholars

UP students are not supposed to be called “Iskolar ng Bayan” (Scholar of the Nation). They are “paying scholars”. If you are paying more or less PHP 21, 000, would you really feel that you are indeed a “Iskolar ng Bayan”? Upon enrollment, UP students get in line to pay for their tuition holding wads of cash roughly four times thicker than those from New Era University would pay for. I am sure that we don’t need figures, charts, and statistics to prove the veracity of my claim.

Had it been somebody from PUP, PLM, PNU, TUP, or any state university/college who boasted himself as “Iskolar ng Bayan”, I am inclined to agree. Otherwise, if it’s from UP who claims such, I will maintain the same incredulous revulsion.

Braggart, think twice! Admit it or not, you don’t deserve to be called “Iskolar ng Bayan”… in the true sense of the word.

First of all, UP is not a state university but is now the National University of the Philippines.

I do think that his comments are too literal. He based it solely on the financial state or cost of education in the university.

For me, it is not really a big deal if we're calling ourselves as Iskolar ng Bayan; we brand ourselves as such because people pay for a part of our tuition fees. Our tuition fee might get as high as P21,000 but we are still subsidized by the government (06 and below, most specially who only pay P300/unit). The colleges and programs plus other UP chapters' budget are all handled by the government; we get a tiger share from the funds alloted for the national universities. In fact, 75% of the whole fund is alloted to us and that's why we claim that we are Iskolars ng Bayan.

The accusation is too hasty. We are the best of the best, thus we still deserve to be called as Scholars, since we do excel. The fake scholars title point-blank gives me such anger to the author of the blog entry.

He even asked this: Do you really deserve the “label” accorded to you?

And I will answer it with my head up high: Yes. We do deserve the label accorded to us. You see, the label does not limit us of the cost of education or what the heck increase in tuition fee. The service, excellence and the principles embedded in our curriculum plainly magnifies us being worthy of such label.

We admit that the tuition fee increased by a huge percentage but that does not discount us from being scholars. We get quality education. We manage to excel and stand out amongst others.

We don't claim that we are the ONLY ISKOLARs ng BAYAN, but we claim ourselves as such. We justify ourselves by being the best in any path we take. We give back and we do our best to deserve such privilege.

Off Topic:

He doesn't even know that it's good if he's getting hits. Moreover, he doesn't know what he's talking about.

I don't want to get personal. He said he could've enrolled his MA here at UP. Well, good enough you didn't. You don't deserve to be labeled as ISKOLAR ng BAYAN.

In fairness, I got irritated with his post.

FOR ME, the term "ISKOLAR NG BAYAN" is more than pride, privilege or what; it is a challenge for us, UP students to strive hard and prove that we are the best in any way we're heading. That we deserve to be labeled as such because we can prove that we are indeed ISKOLARs ng BAYAN.

Kid Camaya on Pinoy Idol

Definitely, Kid Camaya of Pampanga is the best of the remaining six as Pinoy Idol reaches its third to the last week.

It is confirmed that more than one contestant will be going home tonight. Allegedly, this will be the biggest elimination night in the history since it would be eliminating three Idol hopefuls.
